The English version of the call for applications has been made for informative purposes only.

Foreign students will be required to get competences in Italian language during their career as master's degree students at Unibo. This will enhance their chances of a future career in Italy. To this aim, the master's degree will offer Italian language courses that will be compulsory and free-of-charge for foreign students.

Admission Requirements- academic year 2024-2025

The Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering offers two curricula: Aeronautics and Space

The Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering will admit a maximum of 80 students for a.y. 2024-2025, including a maximum of 15 non-EU citizens residing abroad.

In order to apply for the admission procedure, it is necessary:

- to hold a Bachelor's (First cycle) degree of at least 180 ECTS or another single-cycle master's degree (five years) in one of the following Italian Degree classes:

ex D.M. 270:

L-7, L-8, L-9, L-30, L-31, L-35.

or another equivalent qualification obtained abroad that grants access to a second cycle degree in the issuing country in the following area: mechanical, aerospace, industrial, IT, civil and environmental engineering, mathematics, physics, IT technologies;

- to have a suitable personal preparation that will be verified as explained in the call for applications;

- to provide knowledge of English language skills of at least B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Only nationals from the USA, U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Canada and applicants who obtained a Bachelor's degree in one of the mentioned countries, or a Bachelor's degree taught in English, are also exempt from the proof of English language proficiency. 

- to meet the following restrictions of credits or exams for the candidates who have not obtained yet the requested Degree:

1- In the first selection process,

Non-EU students residing abroad shall have fulfilled all activities (credits or exams) belonging to the study plan of the previous years of course;

2 - In the second selection process,

European Union and non-EU students with equivalent status still enrolled on an Italian First Cycle Degree programme, by the deadline of the online application for the second selection process cannot have more than 36 CFU left to be taken (excluding the final test or thesis, internships and laboratory activities) in order to graduate;

European Union and non-EU students with equivalent status still enrolled on a foreign equivalent Bachelor Degree programme, by the deadline of the online application for the second selection process cannot have more than 70% of credits or course units left to be taken (including the final test or thesis) belonging to the study plan of the last year of course, whereas all the credits or exams of the previous years of course are to be already passed;

 

3 - In the third (possible) selection process,

European Union and non-EU students with equivalent status still enrolled on an Italian First Cycle Degree programme, by the deadline of the online application for the third selection process cannot have more than 12 CFU left to be taken (excluding the final test or thesis, internships and laboratory activities) in order to graduate;

European Union and non-EU students with equivalent status still enrolled on a foreign equivalent Bachelor Degree programme, by the deadline of the online application for the third selection process cannot have more than 40% of credits or course units left to be taken (including the final test or thesis) belonging to the study plan of the last year of course, whereas all the credits or exams of the previous years of course are to be already passed;

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT- NO LANGUAGE TEST WILL BE PROVIDED

Please note: B2 level certificates in English language admitted (the certificate is valid if issued after 01/01/2021)

TOEFL – Internet-based – of at least 80 points

IELTS of at least 5.5 points;

FCE – at least C

ISE II Trinity College London

Cambridge English Certificate Level B2

Business Vantage (BEC Vantage)

B2 English certificate issued by a University Language Centre

English B2 level exam passed in an Italian university (idoneità Lingua Inglese B2)

An OOPT test result of B2 or higher score obtained in one of the sessions available and organized by the University language Centre (CLA) of the University of Bologna

Please note: You can apply for the admission procedures even if you have not obtained your First Cycle degree yet; in case you are admitted, you will have to obtain the diploma by the date that will be established by the University Governing Bodies (usually by December)

Please note: Non-EU citizens residing abroad can only participate in the first selection procedure.

 

Evaluation will be made on the documents that must be submitted for the application procedures:

-application form

-degree certificate and transcript of records or certificate of enrolment with exams passed for students not graduate yet; 

-English language certificate;

- copy of a valid ID document or passport;

- copy of permit of stay for Non-EU citizens, if already acquired

- possible pubblications, awards, work-related experience certificates

For non-EU candidates residing abroad of the first selection process, the personal preparation on mathematics, physics and engineering will be verified through an INTERVIEW which will take place remotely on February 20th, 21st and 22nd 2024. Candidates may attend the interview if they score a minimum threshold in the documents evaluation phase. Candidates will be placed in the ranking list if they score a minimum threshold in the interview phase.

  • Integral and differential calculus 
  • Vector calculus
  • Matrix calculus
  • Fundamentals of analysis of linear systems
  • Kinematic and Dynamic of rigid body
  • Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics
  • Fundamentals of Mechanics of Materials

In order to be placed in the ranking list, students must obtain a minimum score 60/100 points in the evaluation of their applications as explained in the call for applications.

The ranking lists will be published on www.studenti.unibo.it, on the dates specified in the Call for applications.

If your ranking entitles you to a place, you will be able to enrol via Studenti Online, within the deadlines indicated in the call for applications.

Failure to achieve the minimum score (60/100) will preclude enrolment in all cases.

If you have particular requirements and want to extend the duration of your studies, you can opt for the flexible curriculum and apply following enrolment.

The curriculum (either Aeronautics or Space) will be selected when enrolling on the programme.

Please note: During the admission procedures, students will also be informed whether they will be required to select the specific Fundamentals of Aerospace Engineering (12 credits) elective exams in their study plan. More details in the Call for applications and in the Degree Regulations.

OOPT organised by the University Language Centre (CLA) of the University of Bologna

If candidates do not hold any of the certificates listed in the call for applications, nor have sat an OOPT for admission to another MSc programme of the University of Bologna for the a.y. 2024/2025, they can request to be registered for one the OOPT dates organised by the University Language Centre (CLA) of the University of Bologna by sending an email to didatticafolri.ingstudenti@unibo.it with at least one week notice from the test date.

Candidates can only sit one test.

Tuition Fee Amounts

Tuition fees are calculated based on the 2023 ISEE value with special subsidies in relation to the right to higher education. First year students with an ISEE value up to a specific threshold benefit from full exemption; the relevant ISEE threshold will be released by the end of May 2023. Above this limit, tuition fees are calculated progressively.

The ISEE value must be submitted, even if you have not enrolled in the Degree Programme, by 30 October 2023, at 6:00pm (or by 15 November 2023, at 6:00pm, paying a €100 penalty) accessing ER-GO Online Services, alternatively you will have to pay the full amount.

If you are an international student, verify how your tuition fees will be calculated according to your country of origin and the country where your family has income and assets.

Matriculation

After you have checked that all the admission requirements have been met, you can enrol on  Studenti Online:

  1. fill in the application for matriculation with the required information and attach a passport photo in digital format;
  2. pay the first instalment of your tuition fees;
  3. follow the instructions to complete the procedure which you will find on Studenti Online according to your profile.
