Call for applications, Master's Degree in Specialized Translation 2017/2018

Please read these documents carefully as they contain very important information.

All prospective students - including those already enrolled in other Courses of the University of Bologna, and those wishing to have their previous studies recognized by an Italian University institution - have to take the entrance exam according to the regulations set out in the Call for applications.

The international M​aster's in Specialized Translation is a restricted access degree62 places are available for 2017/2018. The table below shows the details of the places available:

50 places
reserved for EU nationals 
10 places reserved for non-EU nationals living outside Italy
 2 places reserved for candidates applying through programmes supported by international or supranational organizations.

 

SIGNING UP FOR THE ENTRANCE EXAM

The dates for signing up for the entrance exam are:

for non-EU students living outside Italy:

  • from 22 March 2017 to 11 May 2017, 13.00 (CEST) for first round applicants taking Part 1 and Part 2 ​between 22 and 26 May 2017
  • from 9 June to 7 July 2017, 12.00 (CEST) for second round applicants taking Part 1 and Part 2 between 12 and 13 July 2017

for Italian nationals, EU nationals and equivalents:

  • from 22 March 2017 to 11 May 2017, 13.00 (CEST) for first round applicants taking Part 1 on 25 May and Part 2 on 8 September 2017
  • from 26 May 2017 to 24 August 2017, 13.00 (CEST) for second round applicants taking Part 1 and Part 2 on 8 September 2017

To sign up, you must access the Studenti Online platform, register for the service and follow instructions.

International students who do not possess an Italian tax code (codice fiscale) should follow instructions for “Registration of international students”.

When signing up, you must specify the foreign language (Mandarin Chinese, French, German, Russian, Spanish) and translation direction (from Italian into the foreign language, OR from the foreign language into Italian) for Part 2 of the entrance exam (translation test).

Finally, you must pay the entrance exam fee (€ 60), which will in no case be refunded.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

In order to enrol, applicants must:

  • pass the entrance exam;


  • hold, or be about to obtain, one of the following Italian degrees, or else a foreign Degree recognized as equivalent/adequate: 
    ex D.M. Degree Classes set out by Ministerial Decree (D.M.) 270
    - L-11 Class: MODERN LANGUAGES AND CULTURES
    - L-12 Class: LANGUAGE MEDIATION
    ex. D.M. Degree Classes set out by Ministerial Decree 509/99:
    - Class 3: LANGUAGE MEDIATION SCIENCES
    - Class 11: MODERN LANGUAGES AND CULTURES


  • Applicants who have yet to obtain their undergraduate degree can take the entrance exam. Successful applicants who, at the closing date for enrolment (first or second phase depending on their rank), have yet to obtain their undergraduate degree can enrol on condition that they have passed all their exams and plan to graduate by 30 November 2017. Enrolled students who fail to graduate by the 30 November deadline lose their right to study.


  • Applicants who hold or are about to obtain a degree different from those above may submit their CV for evaluation by a specially appointed Commission. Upon finding the knowledge, competences and skills of a candidate satisfactory, the Commission declares him/her eligible and admits him/her to the entrance exam. Evaluation results are published on Friday 1 September 2017, on the Studenti Online platform.
