1. About the double-degree Program
The University of Bologna and Carnegie Mellon University of Pittsburgh have already created the first Double Degree in Arts Management, an integrated course of studies which will grant two degrees: a Degree in GIOCA – Graduate Degree in Innovation and Organization of Culture and the Arts - granted by the University of Bologna, and a Degree in Master of Arts Management, granted by Carnegie Mellon’s Heinz School of Public Policy and Management and College of Fine Arts.
The MAM-GIOCA double-degree program is structured in approximately 28-30 months of courses and research, the first half to be completed at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh within the MAM Program, and the second half to be completed at University of Bologna in Bologna within GIOCA.
The Double Degree Program requires that students complete 75% of the coursework of each of the two parties’ programs: respectively, 75% of the units of the MAM Program and 75% of the credits of GIOCA.
2. Eligibility
To be eligible for admission to the double-degree, students must
- have at least a Bachelor Degree (or Laurea)
- demonstrate English language proficiency (by TOEFL or IELTS for non-native English speakers)
- be interested in learning and working in an international environment and acquiring a global vision in the area of cultural management
- meet the other admission criteria agreed by the parties
3. Admission process
Admission is regulated by Carnegie Mellon University- Heinz College according to the criteria agreed by the parties and to an established process specified by Carnegie Mellon in a published open call. The deadline to apply is January 10th 2012 for the academic year 2012/2013.
Students will be accepted into GIOCA Program (2nd year) based on Carnegie Mellon’s admission criteria and status as students in “good academic standing” at the end of the first year at Carnegie Mellon.
The number of students participating to the double-degree will not be more than 10 per Academic Year.
The admission process is entirely managed by Carnegie Mellon University, so to get more information, you should contact CMU staff or read the attached file.
4. Tuition and Fees
For the first Academic Year, while studying at Carnegie Mellon, students will pay Carnegie Mellon’s tuition fee. For the second Academic Year, while studying at the University of Bologna, students will pay GIOCA’s tuitions fees. Each University can grant fellowship of financial aid, as determined by the Universities.
