Language requirements

International programmes at UNIBO are demanding and you will need to demonstrate that you have a high level of English language proficiency before you embark on your studies.

Admission to FINMA is also subject to English knowledge (B2 level of the CEFR).

You can meet English language requirements  in the following ways:

- you hold a high school diploma in English taught education;

- you possess one of the English language certificates listed in the box aside;

-you possess the SAT certificate;

-you have language proficiency from previous academic cycles;

you have 6 credits in the scientific area "English language, translation, lingusitics" in previous academic degrees;

- you are English native speaker; 

- you passed the language test (OOPT)

Oxford Online Placement Test (OOPT)

Tests are offered for free on one of the following dates*:

  • 10 March 2026 
  • 14 April 2026 
  • 21 April 2026
  • 12 May 2026
  • 14 May 2026 
  • 9 June 2026
  • 16 June 2026
  • 7 July 2026 
  • 9 July 2026 
  • 14  July 2026

Each test session will start at 9.30 am CET

Considering the limited number of places available, registration is required (with @studio.unibo.it account) well in advance before the date set for the test (first come first served) by emailing to cdl.finma@unibo.it.

No request for OOPT will be considered without a full FINMA application uploaded online.

Further instructions will be provided by the University Language Centre (CLA).

* In the event the test will tale place in presence, the scheduled dates could be modified according to laboratories availability.
