Programme enrolment: requirements, deadlines and methods

Call for application

A.y. 2024/25 - Admission procedure

Stats&Maths is a degree track entirely taught in English.

Information below is just an abstract. Please read carefully the Call for application in Italian or its English version, with detailed information on how to be selected, in the attachment box.

What is Stats&Maths?

STATS&MATHS stands for Corso di Laurea in Statistics and Mathematics; it is an international curriculum (track) of the undergraduate degree course in Scienze Statistiche (Statistical Sciences).

It is a restricted-access programme: this means that you will have to be selected to take part in it.

It is entirely taught in English and open to Italian and international applicants. It lasts three years and leads to the title of Bachelor's degree (1st-cycle degree, Laurea triennale).

How many places are available?

STATS&MATHS is a restricted-access programme and you need to be selected before enrolling. There are 30 places for EU and EU-assimilated citizens and 10 for non-EU citizens. Check what group you belong to here.

Am I eligible to apply?

To apply for the Programme you need to meet the admission requirements listed in the paragraph 1.1 of the Call for application:  “Admission requirements":

1. Hold at least one of the qualifications listed on the Call (page 5)

Have you got a non-Italian secondary school certificate? If so, it must comply with these requirements.

2. Have taken the English TOLC-E test.

English TOLC-E is administered by CISIA and has to be taken within the dates scheduled in the
General Calendar for each intake. The application for the English TOLC-E has to be made on
the website www.cisiaonline.it, where you can find also the registration method and the
administration calendar.

If you took English TOLC-E different times, only the outcome of the last valid English TOLC-E will be considered for the ranking. If you participate with the SAT or a type of TOLC that is different from English TOLC-E you are excluded from the selection (e.g. TOLC-E in Italian).

How does the selection work?

To be admitted in this Degree Programme, it is necessary to participate in the selection procedure. There are two intakes and one eventual extraordinary intake scheduled for which it is necessary to respect the deadlines presented in the General Calendar (see the Call for application).

ENGLISH TOLC: MODALITY FOR TAKING THE TEST AND RESULTS

The TOLC can be taken only once a month (solar month). For the purposes of this call, only English
TOLC-E taken from 01/01/2023 onwards are valid.

Only the following tests are accepted:

  • English TOLC-E taken in person (“TOLC all’università” / "TOLC at the university");
  • English TOLC-E remotely (“TOLC@CASA”/ "TOLC@HOME") exclusively if taken during 2023;
  • English TOLC-E remotely (“TOLC@CASA”/ "TOLC@HOME") taken during 2024 exclusively for candidates who declare themselves as "Non-EU citizens residing abroad" and who compete in the specific quota reserved for them.

TOLC@HOME taken during 2024 will not be considered valid for applying for the quota "Italian citizens, citizens of the European Union, equated non-EU citizens" and "Non-EU citizens residing abroad who must compete with EU citizens".

Application

To apply for the Programme you must take the English TOLC-E test.

To apply, go to www.studenti.unibo.it register (if you are not already registered), choose "Entrance exams or requirements check" and then follow the instructions to apply for the Stas&Maths selection. You will need to select one of the application methods listed in the table above, based on your "status" (NON-European or European/European assimilated candidates). You will be asked to pay a selection fee of €20,00. Applications will be open in the periods indicated in the "Calendar and deadlines" file in the attachment box.

How are my language skills assessed?

The degree course requires a minimum of B1 in English (from the CEFR scale).  From a.y. 2024/25 students prove to possess this level at the time of their application, through the entry test English TOLC-E. Therefore, no certifications are required.

Enrolment

If you have placed in a good position in the final ranking related to the intake you selected, you will be able to enrol on www.studenti.unibo.it, by selecting "Registration" and following the instructions. The enrolment must be completed in the periods indicated in the "Calendar and deadlines" file in the attachment box, including the payment of the first endowment. See the paragraph below named "Matriculation" for further information.

Reallocation Procedure

In all the intakes, in case of available positions after the enrolment of the winners, a reallocation
procedure is provided for the candidates placed in the ranking as “eligible”.
The deadlines for declaring your interest in being enrolled are indicated in the General Calendar of the Call for application and must be peremptorily respected, in order not to be excluded from the procedure.
REMEMBER: the reallocation system is not automatic; you must always declare your interest in
being enrolled by the indicated deadlines.

Additional Learning Requirements (OFA)

Enrolment for the Stats&Maths Degree Programmes requires certain basic knowledge in Mathematics; see how this knowledge is assessed here

Please read carefully the information provided. If you need more support, please email stat.tutorsm@unibo.it.

Tuition Fee Amounts

Tuition fees are calculated based on the 2023 ISEE value with special subsidies in relation to the right to higher education. First year students with an ISEE value up to a specific threshold benefit from full exemption; the relevant ISEE threshold will be released by the end of May 2023. Above this limit, tuition fees are calculated progressively.

The ISEE value must be submitted, even if you have not enrolled in the Degree Programme, by 30 October 2023, at 6:00pm (or by 15 November 2023, at 6:00pm, paying a €100 penalty) accessing ER-GO Online Services, alternatively you will have to pay the full amount.

If you are an international student, verify how your tuition fees will be calculated according to your country of origin and the country where your family has income and assets.

Read all information about tuition fees and exemptions.

  1. fill in the application for matriculation with the required information and attach a passport photo in digital format;
  2. pay the first instalment of your tuition fees;
  3. follow the instructions to complete the procedure which you will find on Studenti Online according to your profile.
