Why ETAC?

Economics of Tourism And Cities offers an economical and managerial approach to the analysis of tourism industries, smart cities and complex interactions between tourism and urban systems.  It provides students with the cultural and technical profile required to join, as a manager or professional, private and public enterprises in the contexts of touristic industries and smart cities.


Who is eligible?

ETAC is a restricted-access programme. Anyone with an Italian Diploma di Maturità can apply. And if you have a non-Italian secondary school certificate, check here for more details and the specific documents you need to provide. How many students will be admitted?

  •  1st intake: 50 places for EU and EU-assimilated citizens + 15 places for non-EU residing abroad (with English TOLC-E).
  •  2nd intake: 30 places for EU and EU-assimilated citizens + 25 places for non-EU residing abroad (with SAT).
  • 3rd intake: remaining places from intake 1 and 2 for EU and EU-assimilated citizens (with English TOLC-E).

Selection procedure

For the present restricted access degree programme, the following tests are valid for academic year 2024/2025:

  • English TOLC E tests held in person (TOLC@UNI) during 2023

  • English TOLC E tests held in person (TOLC@UNI) during 2024
  • English TOLC E tests held during 2023
  • English TOLC@casa tests held during 2024 only for NON-EU students with residency abroad
  • SAT General test with a score obtained after 1st February 2022.

Before each intake, candidates need to complete an official test: 

  • English TOLC-E for applicants of the first intake (or the third one, if available). Full details about structure and syllabus are here. 
  • SAT General test for applicants of the second intake, which is an international test in English managed by CollegeBoard , and stands for “Scholastic Assessment Test.”

English TOLC E tests venues:

English TOLC E tests can be taken only in person at all University of Bologna campuses (including Bologna, Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna, and Rimini). 

Register

To take the TOLC test, it is necessary to register in advance, following the deadlines specified by CISIA Enrolment takes place online on the CISIA website. The payment of €30 is required.

SAT General Test 

  • When registering for the SAT on the College Board website use the same personal email address that you will use as "private email" to apply to ETAC through the portal Studenti Online.
  • Before sitting the test or once you have taken the test, send your score to the University of Bologna using code 6993. Do it as early as possible, so that we receive the score within the application deadline. You can do this directly from the College Board website.

Is an English language certificate required? 

A good score on English TOLC-E or SAT will be a sufficient proof for us of your English skills. No linguistic certificate is required for admission.  

Keep in mind that the language of instruction for ETAC is English: a proficiency level of at least at B2 level is necessary to effectively complete the programme. 

Is Italian language required for international students?

English is the language of instruction, but some basic Italian will facilitate your everyday life in Rimini. No Italian certificate is required.

The general agenda is stated in the Call for applications. Deadlines of the 3 intakes are listed below.

Tuition Fee Amounts

Tuition fees are calculated based on the 2023 ISEE value with special subsidies in relation to the right to higher education. First year students with an ISEE value up to a specific threshold benefit from full exemption; the relevant ISEE threshold will be released by the end of May 2023. Above this limit, tuition fees are calculated progressively.

The ISEE value must be submitted, even if you have not enrolled in the Degree Programme, by 30 October 2023, at 6:00pm (or by 15 November 2023, at 6:00pm, paying a €100 penalty) accessing ER-GO Online Services, alternatively you will have to pay the full amount.

If you are an international student, verify how your tuition fees will be calculated according to your country of origin and the country where your family has income and assets.

Matriculation

After you have checked that all the admission requirements have been met, you can enrol on  Studenti Online:

  1. fill in the application for matriculation with the required information and attach a passport photo in digital format;
  2. pay the first instalment of your tuition fees;
  3. follow the instructions to complete the procedure which you will find on Studenti Online according to your profile.

List of deadlines

Th following deadlines may still vary, according to approval of the official competent offices. Applications are divided in 2 intakes (only in case of places available, we will offer a third round). English TOLC-E or SAT results must be available within the given deadline.
