Crash courses

Introductory courses for 1st year students a.y. 23/24

ADVANCED COSMETIC SCIENCES  offers Crash Courses  aimed to align the knowledge of all the enrolled students.
The courses are held before the start of regular lectures, and will be held in classroom-based mode ( not in remote mode). 

For the a.y. 2024-2025 lectures will take place as follows

Basic in General Chemistry - Prof. Simona Fermani

We will recall the basic principles of chemical bonding starting from atomic orbitals to describe covalent, ionic and metallic bonds. Molecular orbital theory will be reviewed. Finally, main kinds of intermolecular interactions will be analyzed.

Basics in Analytical Chemistry - Prof. Daniele Fabbri

 

We will recall the terms and definitions in quantitative analytical chemistry, calculating and expressing an analytical result, building a calibration equation in instrumental analysis, types of errors and basic statistics of repeated measurements.

Basics in Organic Chemistry - Prof. Claudia Tomasini

 

We will present an overview of the functional groups of the organic molecules, with details in their structure, geometry and reactivity. The principal reactions of each functional group will be analyzed together with several examples of the behavior of real organic molecules.

Basics in Biochemistry – Prof. Valeria Righi

 

Pills of general biochemistry, the main macromolecules and their properties. Energy and living systems.

Overview of enzymes: classification and general properties of enzymes, cofactors and prosthetic groups.

The concept of applied biochemistry with reference to the cosmetic sector.
