To graduate, you have to sit a final examination designed to verify that you have reached the education objectives set by the Degree Programme.
The Final Project represents the concluding activity of the Master's Degree and corresponds to a total of 24 CFU.
It consists in writing a thesis on a topic consistent with the field of study.
The thesis must be developed under the supervision of a faculty advisor. It will then be publicly discussed during a dedicated session in front of an Examination Committee that will assess the student's work.
For more information on the presentation, visit the page "Graduation sessions and information on Graduation Day".
The Final project- thesis- might be related to the work carried out during the Internship for Thesis Preparation. Students who have carried out their internship in laboratories of the University of Bologna or external laboratories, are advised to check whether official presentation slide templates are available. If no specific guidelines or templates are provided, students are free to choose their own slides layout, provided that it remains formal.
However, for the Thesis document, stricter formatting rules apply. Those can be found inside the “Thesis drafting and layout” attachment.
For more information about the possibility of carrying out an internhsip in preperation of the Final project, please go to the Curricular internship page.
Students must submit the application for graduation in Studenti Online platform by accessing the link: https://studenti.unibo.it . A procedure will guide for the concerning part, whereas the Supervisor and the Administrative Student Office are in charge of the subsequent steps.
To submit the degree application, students must meet all the deadlines for the application submission and meet the graduation requirements.
To be admitted to the final examination, students must:

- be up to date with the payment of tuition fees;
- have uploaded the thesis in PDF format through the Studenti Online service;

Please refer to the “Instruction for the admission to the final examination a.y. 2024-2025” attachment, to find all the requirements and deadlines for each of the graduation sessions.
The degree application is valid for one graduation session only. If you graduate in a later session, you will need to resubmit the application and pay only the stamp duty fee.
Students who have carried out a mobility period abroad must ensure that all the credits obtained during the mobility have been officially recognised and recorded in their study plan before the third deadline. The recognition of credits is evaluated and approved by the Study Plan Committee, which meets on the following dates:
