Excavations

Archaeological excavations and field research are a fundamental part of scientific research of the Department of History and Cultures.

DiSCi's projects are geographically located in some of the most important archaeological sites in the world, where research is often conducted in collaboration with other international universities and research institutions and in agreement with the archaeological services (in Italy and abroad). Field research is supported, not only by the University of Bologna and the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, but also by the Ministry of Education (FIRB and PRIN) funding from, University and Research (Montalcini program) and from contributions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as from funding from European programs.

To participate in the archaeological excavations, one must have attended the course on occupational health and safety in accordance with Article 37 c. 2 of Legislative Decree 81/2008 and obtained the relevant certification.
