Erasmus+ mobility for study

Learning Agreement proposals are submitted via AlmaRM

1. The Degree Programme asks you to undertake a number of learning activities that will enable you to achieve at least 4 CFUs for mobilities of five months or less, and at least 8 CFUs for mobilities of more than five months.
2. When comparing the total number of foreign credits (ECTS credits) and the corresponding Italian credits (CFU), the difference cannot be higher than 3.
   NB: 1 ECTS credit equals 1 CFU, i.e. 25 hours of study. This includes both lessons and other learning activities (in other words, credits do not only depend on the amount of class hours)!
3. You can include single or multiple units from an Integrated Course (I.C.) in your Learning Agreement. However, partial recognition of credits from individual course units is not allowed (e.g. you cannot take an integrative exam when you return to UNIBO). All activities included in the LA and approved, if confirmed by the Request for Recognition, will be fully registered in your UNIBO records, just as they appear on the LA/RR.
   PS: They will be registered in your career even if you didn't initially include them in your StudentiOnline study plan!
4. Including in the Learning Agreement the Transferable skills (“Competenze trasversali”) offered by Unibo is not allowed.
5. In order to fill in your Learning Agreement correctly and, consequently, to obtain an accurate recognition of the activities carried out abroad on your return, you must create individual groups of equivalence (“Gruppi di corrispondenza”) by clicking on “Aggiungi Gruppo” (i.e. Add Group) for each pair or group of exams that match.
   In each group, the relation between the UNIBO exams and those of the host University can be one to one, one to many, or many to one. The final proposal must make clear which host University activity(ies) will substitute each UNIBO activity(ies). You can propose the substitution of learning activities belonging to any year of your degree programme, but you must respect any compulsory examination sequence (“propedeuticità”) mentioned in your degree programme regulations.
6. If agreed with the Partner University, you can include the preparation of your final examination in the Learning Agreement. In such cases, you may check “Thesis” (Tesi) and write the title or the topic.
   ● If you are a Bachelor’s student (First Cycle), the preparation of your final exam abroad will not provide for the recognition of credits, and it cannot be the only activity you will carry out during your exchange.
   ● If you are a Master’s student (Second Cycle), you can also benefit from the Erasmus+ grant for the sole purpose of preparing your final thesis (i.e. without carrying out any other learning activities). Contact us or your Programme Coordinator for information on the course code to be inserted in your Learning Agreement on AlmaRM. On your return, instead of (or together with) your Transcript of Records, you must upload a document signed and stamped by the host university certifying that you have actually carried out the thesis preparation.
7. In order to indicate the learning activities to be substituted, in AlmaRM it is possible to:
   ~ select course units included in your course structure diagram;
   ~ insert the code and credits of a course unit offered by another degree programme at the same level among those offered by UNIBO;
   ~ request the recognition of elective credits in the relevant SSD (scientific-disciplinary sector). For technical reasons, if these credits belong to the same SSD, they must be included in the same group indicating the total amount. In such cases, if the foreign activity results in a grade, it will be converted and registered; if it results in a pass/fail, then it will be registered as such (“ID”).

The Learning Agreement is:
- SUBMITTED by the student in AlmaRM
- VALIDATED by the exchange referent teacher
- APPROVED by the Degree Programme Board – approval must be obtained prior to departure
- APPROVED BY THE PARTNER UNIVERSITY via EwP or hard copy

Students wishing to amend an approved Learning Agreement are reminded that they may do so a maximum of twice during the exchange period. Each amendment may involve several variations of the course units previously specified.
We expect the first amendment (i.e. Learning Agreement 2.0) to be proposed within 5 weeks of your arrival.

The process of modifying your Learning Agreement follows the same path as the initial submission (namely submission, validation and approval) and it is carried out exclusively through AlmaRM, even before departure if necessary.

Recommendations for submitting your Request for Recognition of the learning activities undertaken abroad through AlmaRM

1. If you receive the original copy of the certificate containing all the exams passed abroad (Transcript of Records) you should scan it and upload it in AlmaRM; the competent offices will take care of its validation. If the TOR arrives only at the administrative offices, we will upload it and validate it at the same time. You do not need to send us a paper copy.
2. You may choose not to apply for recognition of some of the activities you have undertaken, or you may indicate that you have not carried out some of the planned activities. Remember, however, that the resulting Request for recognition must still meet the criteria set out for the Learning Agreement in terms of credits and that you must obtain recognition for at least one learning activity in order not to lose your scholarship.
3.  You can request the recognition of one or more units of an Integrated Course (I.C.).
   ~ If you request the recognition of all the units that make up an Integrated Course (I.C.), the grade of each unit taken abroad will be converted, weighted and used to formulate the final grade of your I.C. directly through AlmaRM.
   ~ If the Request for Recognition does not include all the units that make up an I.C., only the unit(s) actually substituted by activities taken abroad will be registered. Once the procedure is completed, the Integrated Course will appear on AlmaEsami as "in debt" only for the missing part(s) that you will take in Bologna. If this is your case, we recommend that you inform the teacher who will be examining you for the remaining unit(s) at the University of Bologna when you sit the exams for these units. He/she will find the missing part only on AlmaEsami and will have to register the grade for the missing part only (not the average).
4. Partial recognition of credits from individual course units is not allowed (e.g. by sitting an integrative exam on your return to Unibo). Any activity included in the approved Learning Agreement will be fully registered (if you apply for it).
5. When filling in the Request for Recognition, AlmaRM allows you to modify the equivalence groups mentioned in the Learning Agreement. However, if you change previously approved equivalences directly in the Request for Recognition, the changes will be evaluated by the referent teacher and the Degree Programme Board at this stage, without any guarantee of approval.

The Request for Recognition is:
- SUBMITTED by the student in AlmaRM
- VALIDATED by the exchange referent teacher
- APPROVED by the Degree Programme Board
- REGISTERED in your records by the administration

The referent teacher defines the grade conversion during the validation phase. The Degree Programme director can update or correct the conversion during the approval phase.
Grade conversion involves two steps: the foreign grades are interpreted according to ECTS scale (A, B, C, D, E) and the resulting ECTS grades are then converted into Italian grades (out of 30).

The table for converting foreign grades into ECTS grades can be found on the Transcript of Records of the host university or on its website. The tables for converting ECTS grades into Italian grades are updated every year and are available at this link.
