ADMISSION NOTICE FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2024-2025

NOTE: APPLICATIONS OPEN ON NOVEMBER 28TH 2023.

In order to enrol to the Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, you need first to be admitted to the Degree Program, which means passing the admission evaluation performed by an appointed Admission Committee.

To participate in the evaluation, you must submit your application, complete with all the required documents, according to the established deadlines.

Your application will be evaluated based on specific criteria: the admission requirements, together with the deadlines and the list of required documentation, are detailed in the ADMISSION NOTICE

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Students who intend to apply for the Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering must prove their English proficiency in order to be admitted: English B2 exam for Biomedical Engineering applicants

Admission to the programme is subject to the verification of curricular and linguistic requirements, and to the assessment of personal knowledge and skills, as stated in the Admission Notice.

Candidates who lack one or more requirements will not be admitted. It is not possible to obtain conditional admission and make up for a missing requirement at a later point.

The Admission Committee will assess whether you meet the requirements based on the documents provided in your application.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR A.Y. 24-25

The application for the Degree Program can only be submitted through the website StudentiOnline.

Documents sent via email will not be accepted.

Please find attached on the right the step-by-step instructions on how to submit your application.

Documents in addition to the mandatory ones (such as Cv, SOP, …) are not required and might not be considered in the evaluation.

The mandatory documents to upload are:

  1. Your Transcript of Records, complete with the following information for each passed exam: name of the activity, grade obtainednumber of credits, Scientific Disciplinary Sector (for candidates with an Italian Degree);
  2. Your Degree Certificate, complete with the final mark/CGPA; if you haven’t graduated yet and you are an international student, make sure your current weighted average/GPA is reported on the transcript;
  3. Proof of English proficiency of at least B2 level (CEFR).

  • TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language
  • TOEFL – IBT special home edition
  • Cambridge Assessment English - Cambridge English Preliminary – PET (only grade A – over 160 points)

  • Cambridge Assessment English – Cambridge English Advanced - CAE
  • IGCSE English as a Second Language
  • IGCSE First Language English
  • Trinity College London
  • University Language Centre – Università di Bologna
  • University Language Centre – other Italian Universities

The English proficiency is deemed to be fulfilled by those having obtained a University degree fully delivered English with a minimum length of 2 academic years (120 ECTS) in one EU/EEA country as well as in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Switzerland, the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand. English as a medium of instruction (MOI) should be clearly written down on the transcript of academic records.

 

APPLICATION CALENDAR A.Y. 2024-2025

Applications must be submitted according to the deadlines established below.

Each intake spans over several months and comprehends several in-between cut-off dates, which allow applicants to receive periodic evaluations.

At each cut-off date, applications received up to that point will be forwarded to the Admission Committee for the evaluation. The results will be published on Studenti Online, also according to the Calendar.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • If by the cut-off date an application is incomplete, it will not be forwarded to the Admission Committee.
  • If by the cut-off date an application looks complete, but the Admission Committee cannot complete the evaluation because of missing information, the evaluation will not be carried out. The result will not be updated and a note will be added on StudentiOnline, stating which integration is needed.
  • Applicants are allowed to update their application up until the very last deadline. Afterwards, incomplete applications will be rejected.

Attention! The second intake is exclusively open to Italian, EU and non-EU candidates with equivalent status. Applications from non-EU candidates residing abroad will not be evaluated.

PRE-ENROLMENT

If you are a non-EU citizen resident abroad, and you have been admitted to the Degree Programme, read the specific information prepared for you, as you are required to go through the Embassy's pre-enrolment procedure on the Universitaly portal.

The aforementioned pre-enrolment procedure is to be carried out according to the rules, regulations and deadlines which will be set forth by a ministerial Circular Note. 

If you hold a foreign qualification, please also carefully read which documents you need to submit upon matriculation, as they might take quite some time to prepare.

 

DEADLINES FOR ENROLMENT

Enrolment for academic year 2024-2025 will be possible starting from February 15th 2024. Please find here the deadlines for a.y 2024/2025:

Remember that, in order to complete the enrolment procedure, you will have to:

  1. if you are a non-EU citizen with EU equivalent status and you obtained your qualification in Italy:you have to email a copy of your residence permit, qualifying you for EU equivalent status, to the Student Administration office (of your degree programme or Campus);
  2. if you are a non-EU citizen with residency abroad and you have a foreign qualification, you will need to check the detailed information and upload, in addition to your study documents, a copy of your entry visa for study purposes (or the “Studente” residence permit, if you have already obtained it), to Studenti Online (in the “Calls” section, select “Upload documents for international students and students with foreign qualification”).
  3. if you have a foreign qualification: you will need to check the detailed information, follow the instructions and upload the listed documents to Studenti Online (in the “Calls” section, by selecting “Upload documents for international students and students with foreign qualification”);
  4. if you are a student with a disability and have a recognised disability equal to or greater than 66%, or if you have a disability certificate pursuant to the Italian Law no. 104/92: in order to be eligible for exemption from paying tuition fees, you must e-mail the certificate attesting your condition to the Student Administration Office;
  5. if you want to ask for recognition of previous studies: check what you need to do;

TUITION FEES AMOUNT

For academic year 2024-2025, tuition fees are calculated based on the 2024 ISEE value for special subsidies in relation to the right to higher education. First year students whose ISEE value is below €27,000 can benefit from a full tuition fees exemption. Above this threshold, tuition fees are calculated progressively.

The ISEE value must be submitted, even if you have not enrolled in the Degree Programme yet, by 30 Ocotber 2024, at 6:00pm (or by 15 November 2024, at 6:00pm, with the payment of a 100€ penalty fee) accessing ER-GO Online Service; if the deadlines are not met, you will have to pay the full amount.
