Assessment of the English language knowledge

B2 level (at least)

In order to meet the B2-level language requirement for the a.y. 2024/2025, students must submit one of the following English language certifications at B2 level at least:

  • one of the certifications among those indicated in the Table of equivalent certifications for the language proficiency test obtained starting from 01/01/2021. 

    Please find below some example but carefully check the updated table with all the information.

    • IELST Academic or General Training with a score of at least 5.5 (IELTS Academic online is not accepted);

    • Cambridge Assessment English with B2 level;

    • TOEFL iBT with a score of at least 80,

    • PTE Academic with a score of at least 59 (PTE Academic Online is not accepted);

    • Trinity college London (with all the modules: reading, writing, listening, speaking)- ISE II at least;

    • IGCSE (with all the components: reading, writing, listening, speaking) English First Language grade E at least or English as a Second Language grade C at least.

  • a certificate attesting that you completed a bachelor or a higher education qualification in English;
  • a certificate attesting tha you passed an English language B2 exam not earlier than 01/01/2021, inlcuding certificates issued by your University Language center (even if they are not recorded in your career). Please note: the certificate must clearly state the level achieved, otherwise it will not be possible to take it into account.
  • a certificate attesting that you completed 60 ECTS credits at least in English during the university career(the last exam was taken not earlier than 01/01/2021;
  • Applicants who have taken OOPT for other degrees at the University of Bologna not earlier than 01/01/2021 will be accepted as well.

Candidate may certificate or self-certificate the language proficiency according to the Italian law.

If you do not sumbit a valid language certificate you must take an Oxford Online Placement Test (OOPT) on the dates indicated in the "Programme enrolment: requirements, deadlines and methods" page.

Attention!  each candidate candidate can take the OOPT test to access one of the degree programmes of the campuses of Forlì, Cesena, Rimini and Ravenna of the University of Bologna only once (in the sessions organised by the Language Centre of Romagna in the period March-July 2024) and it is not possibile to take it twice.

The test result will only be valid for the admission to the Master's degrees in “Economia e Management” and in “Business Administration and Sustainability”, therefore no certification can be requested.

Candidates without a valid language certification who fail to pass the B2-level English exam (OOPT) will be considered NOT ELIGIBLE, therefore, they will not be able to enrol in the programme.
