Internships are carried out on the basis of an agreement between the University of Bologna and the Host Structure (company, public body, professional firm etc.) and an internship programme signed by the parties concerned.
Who is eligible
Students are eligible for internships, which must be carried out as part of their degree programme.
Duration
Dissertation Internship will be awarded 6 CFU (150 hours), while the dissertation internship abroad will be awarded 12 CFU (300 hours). Internships must be completed within 12 months of their start date.
How to choose the Company
Internships may be carried out in University structures or externally, either in Italy or abroad.
To choose where to carry out the internship, you can consult the list of structures that hold agreements with the University and/or internship offers already published on Tirocini online.
If none of the offers meet your interest, you can present a spontaneous application and, if approved, ask the Structure to publish an offer addressed to you (known as “ad personam” offer), via the University's internship application. If the Host Structure does not already have an agreement with the University, an agreement may be stipulated and, once it has been stipulated, the internship can start.
How to activate an internship
- Students can request an internship solely via the Tirocini online application.
Once you have identified the structure in which you wish to carry out the internship, you need to agree with your University Tutor and with the Host Contact Person, your learning objectives and activities, the time lines to achieve them and all the other details required to complete the internship programme.
If internship offers are not interesting, students can submit self-candidacy and, in case of positive evaluation, ask the structure to include on the application internship of the University an offer addressed to you (so-called "ad personam"). If the company is not affiliated, the student must submit (also scanned by mail) the application for “convenzionamento”.
N.B.: The time of stipulation of the conventions is based on the response time of the institutions and on the dates of the Commission's meetings.
It is important to pay attention in compiling your CV that will be sent to companies as a presentation (you can consult the instructions for a correct compilation of the CV and the model of the European CV).
It is the student's job to monitor the status of applications.
- Upload the internship programme
After the online approval of the internship project by the Commission, students must download the training program from the application, acquire the necessary signatures, upload in a single file the programme and a copy of the signing contact person's identity document.
- After the internship office has validated the uploaded documents and after the meeting of the Internship commission, students can download the attendance register. The Internship can be carried out in the period between the start and end dates shown on the attendance register.
During the internship
During the internship, you must keep in contact with your University Tutor, to whom you can refer to for any support or advice you may need on how to carry out your activities, and you must record your daily activities in the attendance register.
The Internship hours must be recorded during the period between the start and end dates shown on the attendance register.
Before leaving the Host Structure, make sure that the attendance register is countersigned by the Host Contact Person.
Withdrawal, interruption, suspension of the internship
If you intend to withdraw from or interrupt your internship for reasons that do not allow further continuation, you must notify the Internship Office, stating your reasons.
What to do at the end of the internship
Before leaving the host company, make sure that the register has been countersigned by the contact person;
-Upload the signed attendance register and the title page of the thesis;
-Complete the evaluation questionnaire (the company will also be able to fill out the online questionnaire).
N.B. It is the responsibility of the trainee to provide before the meeting of the Commission traineeships prior to the deadlines foreseen for graduation.
Insurance cover
The University of Bologna guarantees insurance cover for students against accidents at work and third-party liability claims. These policies are written by insurance companies that specialise in the sector.
In the event of travel to locations or structures not indicated in the approved curricula internship programme, you can request an extension of the insurance cover - even during the internship - on condition that the travel concerned is consistent with the objectives of the internship.
Online courses on health and safety are compulsory for all students
