Expected learning outcomes

The master's degree graduate:

• has an in-depth knowledge of the functions as well as of the process, aimed at an integrated understanding of the activities of the company;
• has an interdisciplinary knowledge of the areas of marketing and business management, corporate finance, economics of financial and insurance intermediaries, industrial economics and quantitative methods;
• has a specialist knowledge of the topics connected to the functioning and management of private and public companies;
• has a specialist knowledge of sustainability and of the effect of the initiatives that companies may undertake to have an impact on the territory.

The knowledge and comprehension skills mentioned above are acquired through lectures and seminars together with tutoring activities, exercises, case discussions and individual study in order to provide an effective deepening process.

Possible personal assignments required within the courses, especially in the areas of business, economics and law, provide students with additional tools to deepen their knowledge and improve their comprehension skills.

The learning outcomes are mainly assessed through oral exams, written assignments, tests and the evaluation of group works.

The master's graduate:

• is able to apply analytical tools to deal with changing processes within business management and to promote the creation of new companies;
• is able to apply the mathematical-statistical, economic and legal knowledge necessary to hold positions of responsibility in private companies and public enterprises;
• is able to analyze and understand the social and economic changes that drive the evolution of the demand, of the competition and of the distribution system from both a national and an international perspective;
• can evaluate the economic and financial features as well as the dynamics of companies, banks and financial intermediaries;
• is able to apply managerial techniques for public administration;
• knows how to manage the creation of a new company, whether it is in the start-up phase or as a corporate spinoff.

The  ability to apply the principles and techniques mentioned above is achieved thanks to an educational offer common to all the subjects, which provides for theoretical explanation as well as examples, applications, assessments and individual or group works that encourage active participation. The proactive attitude, the independent processing capabilities and the ability to communicate results are an integral part of the learning and educational process. The depth of knowledge and the personal processing, entrusted to the student's independent study, hold absolute importance within this context. Through an appropriate personal re-elaboration of the information acquired during the lessons and during a potential internship, the student assesses his level of proficiency.

In addition to individual study, laboratory activities carried out in groups, meetings with managers as guests to the various courses and classroom exercises have significant importance. These activities are particularly emphasized in statistical-mathematical and other highly application-oriented courses both in the economic and business contexts, as well as in the preparation for the final examination.

The achievement of learning outcomes is mainly assessed by written and oral examinations, reports, exercises, problem solving activities and it involves the performance of specific tasks, in which the student proves his/her proficiency in the use of tools, methodologies and their own critical autonomy. In the case of an internship (if applicable), the assessment is carried out through the presentation of a report on the activity completed by the student and the company tutor.

The Master's Degree graduate

• knows the issues and uncertainties characterising each area of company activity, the typical situations in which such problems must be addressed and the competences required to manage them;
• interprets the processes of change and innovation characterising the sector, and is capable of managing and potentially innovating the structure of the company's relations with external stakeholders;
• develops interdisciplinary knowledge that enables them to interpret the general situation of a company above and beyond the specific issues within individual areas of company activity;
• interprets the processes of change and innovation that characterise the sector in which an enterprise operates;
• Demonstrates an understanding of the specific economic, financial, and managerial learning challenges that characterize newly-established businesses or those undergoing significant changes.

These skill are achiieved directing the student towards the pragmatic resolution of concrete problems through the integration of interdisciplinary knowledge within the framework of practical exercises, seminars, and the preparation of papers relevant to the economic and business domain.

This autonomy is further strengthened through potential internship activities, as well as through the tasks assigned by the supervisor for the preparation of the final examination. The main educational tools include individual and group projects, as well as the completion of an in-depth dissertation with strong empirical research elements, focused on tangible issues amenable to independent and original investigation. Exercises, individual assignments, and the final dissertation enhance the ability to make decisions, exercise judgment, and engage in critical thinking independently.

The achievement of the described level of autonomy is verified through the evaluation of work outcomes, including group assignments, during the assigned activities in preparation for the final examination and, if applicable, during internships. In some educational activities and in the preparation for the final examination, opportunities are provided for project-based and seminar-based teaching methods, where students are encouraged to constructively assess and evaluate each other's work. Assessment methods may include the development of short essays, presentations, and the ability to engage in constructive public speaking.

The Master’s Degree graduate

• is able to write concise and clear written reports relating to technical issues in all business areas, and is able to understand and critically interpret reports written by others;
• makes systematic and effective oral presentations, communicating data and own elaborations with clarity and transparency of methods, reasoning and knowledge, also using computer and multimedial supports.

Written and oral communication skills are developed in the training activities involving the preparation of written reports, team projects and their oral presentation, and are stimulated by the group work provided in numerous training activities. Written and oral English communication skills are developed mainly in the course of the English-language training activities and the related assessments, and also in the study of material in English in other educational activities.

Extensive assessment of the achievement of communication skills is foreseen, including interviews, the preparation of written assignments, the discussion of projects, with the aid of multimedia tools as well. In classroom practice activities, students are encouraged to intervene publicly

The Master's Degree graduate:

• Demonstrates the ability to recognize the possibilities and limitations of the available knowledge, both in the fields of study of the business activity and in the context of the unified corporate management and in the management of general decision-making processes.
• Possesses knowledge of the primary directions pursued in both scientific research and practical applications for advancing available knowledge and is capable of critically evaluating them through individual study and in-depth exploration.
• Develops a capacity for self-learning through seminar activities and projects completed during the academic year.
• Can autonomously assess which research methods and analytical tools are suitable for resolving specific decision-making problems and determine appropriate paths for further education to deepen and update their knowledge.

The emphasis of individual educational activities is directed towards developing learning capabilities through the presentation of concrete and multidimensional problems, underscoring the need of integrating specialized knowledge within an interdisciplinary context to address them effectively. Learning capabilities are developped through individual study activities, the preparation of individual and group projects, as well as the preparation of the dissertation and its final presentation.

The learning capability is assessed through evaluation methods that necessitate the independent retrieval, processing, and presentation of data. This assessment also includes the evaluation of the ability for self-directed learning developed during participation in seminars and independent study activities. Moreover, it encompasses a comprehensive understanding of key economic and business-related issues.
