The second cycle degree programme in "Biotecnologie Animali" (Animal Biotechnologies) offers the curriculum in "Comparative Biotechnologies”
The curriculum - offered in English only - provides theoretical and practical knowledge on four specific training areas:
ANIMAL MODELS
Development of vertebrate and invertebrate animal models for the study of infectious and oncological diseases, as well as alternative in vitro and ex vivo methods
ONCOLOGY
Biotechnologies applied to the study of oncogenesis in spontaneous conditions and experimental models, focusing on the molecular, genetic, and epigenetic mechanisms underlying cancer development, as well as the investigation of new therapeutic approaches
TRANSMISSIBLE DISEASES
Biotechnologies applied to the study of transmissible diseases in spontaneous and experimental models, with in-depth analysis of the molecular, genetic, and epigenetic mechanisms involved in infectious processes and the development of new therapeutic approaches.
BIOINFORMATICS AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Development of expertise in the use of bioinformatics tools and artificial intelligence methodologies for the analysis of complex biomedical data, translational research, and the identification of novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
The programme – unique in Italy – has been developed with the Master’s Degree Course on Comparative Biomedicine of the Veterinary University of Vienna (VetMedUni).
There are several mobility opportunities for studying with the VetMedUni and several mobility opportunities for traineeship with different European university and private structure.
