Second Cycle Degree/Two Year Master in Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology

Preparing the study plan

Information on how to prepare and present a study plan.

What is the study plan

The study plan is the set of all the examinations you have to take in order to graduate. Some exams are compulsory, while others are optional.

You may submit the Study Plan if you are duly enrolled, have paid your tuition fees and hold a valid residence permit in the case of an international student.

Study Plan Submission Periods

It is possible to submit and modify your Study Plan during two periods of the academic year.

For the academic year 2026/27, the Study Plan can be submitted:

  • from 5 October to 26 November 2026
  • from 11 January to 9 April 2027

Students who submit their Study Plan by 26 November may modify it for the current academic year during the subsequent submission period.

Once the deadlines have passed, the last submitted Study Plan will be considered final and no further changes will be allowed. The completed Study Plan will be visible immediately after online submission in the AlmaEsami profile.

Students may sit an exam only if the course has been included in their Study Plan and the course lectures have been completed.

Students intending to graduate by the March 2027 graduation session, and therefore within the 2025/26 academic year, may no longer submit a Study Plan or modify courses previously selected.

Students who pay the first instalment of tuition fees for the new academic year and modify their Study Plan will not, under any circumstances, be eligible to apply for graduation in March 2027.

Please note:

Students enrolled in years beyond the first who wish to modify a course belonging to a previous year of study will not be allowed to take and have the modified exam officially recorded until the end of the lectures for the current academic year.

Free-choice learning activities

In the choice group “One or more educational activities of the University”, or free choice, it is possible to enter:

  • Educational activities provided by your own Course of Study and which have not already been included elsewhere in the study plan;
  • Educational activities provided by the University's open access study courses (selecting from those provided by degree courses for those enrolled in a degree course and from those provided by degree courses, five-year degree courses or single-cycle degree courses for those enrolled in five-year degree courses).

 The types of educational activities that can be included in the free choice are:

  • teachings;
  • linguistic aptitudes;
  • seminars.

It is not possible to include laboratories or internships, unless they are already proposed by one's own Course of Study within the free choice group when compiling the plan.

When compiling the web plan, the system will allow you to search for educational activities by entering the subject code, name or name of the lecturer.

Inclusion of educational activities from courses with a numerical quota

In order to include in the free-choice credits courses provided by degree courses with a scheduled number of students, it is necessary to follow the procedure indicated:

  1. Check that the same teaching is also present in open access courses and, if so, choose it from there and put it directly on the online plan;
  2. If the course is only available on courses with a scheduled number of places, ask the coordinator or the coordinator of the degree course to which the course relates for permission to include the examination in the syllabus. It is necessary to send an email from your institutional mailbox (name.surname@studio.unibo.it) for this request;
  3. Once you have obtained the Coordinator's or Co-ordinator's consent, fill in the online plan by the deadlines and insert a fictitious course in the free-choice credits;
  4. Write to the Student Administration Office from your institutional mailbox (name.surname@studio.unibo.it) requesting the change. The request should be submitted by email in the following manner:
  • subject of the email: “Request for insertion of activities from a restricted number course”;
  • in the email indicate the name, surname, matriculation number, code and name of the fictitious course to be removed and the code and name of the course to be included in the syllabus;
  • attach the coordinator's consent.

Modalities for submitting the study plan

Web Plan

If you are a regular student who needs to draw up the plan for the current year of enrolment or modify the choices of previous years, the plan is compiled and submitted by accessing the Studenti Online service with your University credentials. The service is only active during the periods in which submission is permitted.

If you are a student who has applied for a course change or transfer, or you have enrolled as a second degree with credit recognition from the 2017/18 academic year onwards, filling in the plan is from the Studenti Online service with your University credentials.

Once you have completed the plan, remember to click on ‘save’ so that your plan can be correctly submitted; we also advise you to print out a copy of the completed study plan. The copy, in fact, is the only means of verification in the event of formal or substantial irregularities that may arise after uploading.

Paper plan

You must complete and submit the study plan exclusively in paper form if you belong to one of the following categories:

  • you are a student enrolled as a second degree and have applied for and been awarded credits by the end of the academic year 2016/17;
  • you made a curriculum change by the end of the academic year 2016/17;
  • you transferred from another university or applied to transfer from another course of study and applied for and obtained recognition of credits by the end of the academic year 2016/17;
  • you have been enrolled since the academic year 2008/2009 and are currently enrolled as failing student;
  • you have enrolled part-time.

For the delivery of the paper study plan, please contact the Student Office of the Humanities Study Courses - Bologna campus.

If you are enrolled in an Old Order course of study lasting four or five years and would like to change your study plan or submit your individual study plan, please contact the Education Office.

How to print the form

Students who have to complete the paper study plan must print the form for the academic year of enrolment:

How to fill in the paper plan

Those enrolled in the course must fill in the plan for the year in which they are enrolled (1st, 2nd, 3rd) by placing an ‘X ’ next to the name of the course to be chosen.

Current or failing student who intend to replace certain examinations from previous years must put an ‘S’ next to the name of the course they intend to replace and an ‘X’ next to the course they intend to include in the new study plan.

Please indicate on the form your student number, surname, first name, date, e-mail and mobile phone number and sign it.

Students who have already submitted their plan for the current academic year but are proposing new replacements must write ‘modification’ at the top of the paper form.
