Call for applications for the degree programme in Digital Humanities and Digital Knowledge (DHDK)

Second Cycle Degree Class: LM-43 (referring to the Italian Academic System)

The International Second Cycle Degree Programme in Digital Humanities and Digital Knowledge (DHDK) offers a cross-disciplinary curriculum designed to foster close connections between Humanities and Computer Science. It is divided into three macro areas of learning: Computer Science; Literature, Linguistics, History, Culture and Arts in the digital context; Complementary (Management and Organization, Law and Digital Methods, Communication and Social Media).

Applications will be assessed by the Admission Board in accordance with the procedure outlined below.

Candidates that are not admitted may not apply for other intakes.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates are expected to have a knowledge of theories and methods in the digital humanities domain and they must own aptitude to computational techniques.

Curricular and Language Requirements

CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for admission, candidates must:

 1- Hold a first cycle degree, or an equivalent degree achieved in another educational system, in one of the following classes (only for students who obtained their degree in the Italian academic system):

L-1 Cultural heritage

L-3 Visual arts, music, performing arts and fashion studies

L-5 Philosophy

L‐8 Information technology engineering

L-10 Humanities

L-11 Modern languages and civilisations

L‐15 Tourism

L-19 Education and training

L-20 Communication

L‐31 Computer Science

L-42 History

L-43 Conservation and restoration of cultural heritage

In addition to the possession of a degree as indicated, candidates must have obtained at least 54 ECTS in the following subject areas:

IUS/20 Philosophy of Law

L-ART/01 History of Mediaeval Art

L-ART/02 History of Modern Art

L-ART/03 History of Contemporary Art

L-FIL-LET/10 Italian Literature

L-FIL-LET/11 Contemporary Italian Literature

L-FIL-LET/12 Italian Linguistics

L-LIN/01 Glottology and Linguistics

M-FIL/02 Logic and Philosophy of Science

M-FIL/04 Aesthetics

M-FIL/05 Philosophy and Theory of Language

Within the above mentioned 54 ECTS credits, at least 18 in the following sectors:

INF/01 Computer Science

ING-INF/05 Data Processing Systems

L-FIL-LET/10 Italian Literature

L-FIL-LET/11 Contemporary Italian Literature

Students are highly recommended to hold at least 6 ECTS in INF/01 or ING-INF/01

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Admission to the programme is subject to proving English language skills, equivalent to level B2 (or higher) of the Common European Framework (CEFR). Assessment of personal knowledge and skills

 Admission to the 2nd cycle degree programme in Digital Humanities and Digital Knowledge (DHDK) is conditional on passing an interview to assess the candidates' personal competencies and skills in computer science and humanities.

Specific questions will evaluate previous experience in digital humanities and will assess the reading and understanding of compulsory readings and suggested readings (list in attached).

GRADUATING STUDENTS

Students who are about to graduate, provided they have acquired 150 ECTS by the deadline of the chosen intake, can also apply. They will be admitted to the degree programme on the condition that they obtain their undergraduate degree by and no later than December 30th 2024. Candidates who do not meet this requirement will be excluded.

Language requirements 

To be admitted to the degree programme, you must demonstrate a knowledge of the English language of at least level B2 (CEFR) according to one of the conditions established by the course.

Tuition Fee Amounts

Tuition fees are calculated based on the 2023 ISEE value with special subsidies in relation to the right to higher education. First year students with an ISEE value up to a specific threshold benefit from full exemption; the relevant ISEE threshold will be released by the end of May 2023. Above this limit, tuition fees are calculated progressively.

The ISEE value must be submitted, even if you have not enrolled in the Degree Programme, by 30 October 2023, at 6:00pm (or by 15 November 2023, at 6:00pm, paying a €100 penalty) accessing ER-GO Online Services, alternatively you will have to pay the full amount.

If you are an international student, verify how your tuition fees will be calculated according to your country of origin and the country where your family has income and assets.

Matriculation

After you have checked that all the admission requirements have been met, you can enrol on  Studenti Online:

  1. fill in the application for matriculation with the required information and attach a passport photo in digital format;
  2. pay the first instalment of your tuition fees;
  3. follow the instructions to complete the procedure which you will find on Studenti Online according to your profile.
