Internship

An internship provides you with the opportunity to engage in activities within organizations or companies, aiming to complement your university education with practical experience.

Internships are conducted through agreements between the University of Bologna and the Host Structure (company, public body, professional firm, etc.), following an internship program mutually signed by the involved parties.

At GLOC you can only choose an Internship for Preparation for the Final Examination totaling 6 CFU (150 hours), conducted abroad.

The request for the Internship for Preparation for the Final Examination can be submitted exclusively from your second year, after selecting the internship in your study plan.

Before submitting the request, ensure that you have already defined the main subject of your final examination with your supervisor, who will oversee your activities during the internship. Additionally, ask your supervisor to write an email approving your internship activities; you'll need to upload it along with your curriculum vitae during the online application procedure.

To begin, prepare an effective CV and a cover letter. You can seek guidance from University services on crafting impactful CVs, creating targeted cover letters, and participating in job interview simulations in Job Placement.

Please note the following:

• Internships cannot be undertaken at a hosting institution where the legal representative, cooperation partner, or responsible manager has familial ties or affinity within the 2nd degree with the interested student.
• Mandatory online health and safety courses must be completed (modules 1 and 2) before starting the internship. If you already hold a previous certification, please send it to spp.formazione@unibo.it to confirm its validity.

Hosting institutions that have already signed an internship agreement with the University of Bologna publish their internship vacancies on the Online Internship Database. You can check the SOL-Tirocini platform - Internships on the internet to:

• View available internship offers and apply for them

or

• Access the list of all hosting institutions that have signed an internship agreement with the University of Bologna. You can contact those you are interested in and verify their availability to host you as an intern. If they are available, submit your application.

In both cases, once the hosting institution has accepted your application, connect to SOL-Tirocini - Internships: 

1. Follow the guidelines you will receive at your Unibo email.
2. Download the attendance register from SOL-Tirocini - Internships, where you will find the allowed period for your internship.

You can pursue an internship abroad by:

• Applying for an exchange program (i.e, Erasmus+ program)

or

• Selecting a hosting institution abroad, following the same procedures as for Italian hosting institutions

Complete the attendance register within the timeframe specified by the hosting institution. If there are any changes, such as the interruption or cancellation of the agreed internship program, notify your internship office via email. Make sure to include your academic tutor and your tutor at the hosting institution in the cc field.

Any potential business trips must be communicated in advance by the tutor of the hosting institution to the internship office and the academic tutor, who must grant approval.

The internship, like any other course in your study plan, must be recorded on AlmaEsami.

After completing the required internship hours, you have to log in to  SOL-Tirocini - Internships, in order to:

1. enter the date of your last day of internship;
2. upload your attendance record book (only page 1 and page 2), completed with required data and signature of the tutor of the Host organization;
3. fill out the internship questionnaire. Your answers, which we ask you to provide carefully, will help us monitor the progress of the internships and, if necessary, will allow us to intervene to improve them. Thank you

Please note: if you are about to graduate, the registration of the internship must take place within the deadline for "meeting the admission requirements" , therefore you must upload the required documents to SOL-Tirocini at least 10 working days before the abovementioned deadline.

After uploading the documentation and completing the questionnaire:

• the internship office checks the attendance register;
•  the academic tutor evaluates  the internship
• book an appointment on AlmaEsami, as published by Prof. Marica Tolomelli, who will formalize your internship.
