Recent years have seen a revival of social reproduction theory within the feminist debate. This course will focus on the notion of social reproduction, understood as either the reproduction of capitalist sociality as a whole or as the gendered labor of reproduction of labor power. It will draw on texts from the Althusserian, Italian Workerist, and Anglo-American Marxist feminist traditions and explore the innovations introduced in recent debates concerning social reproduction and the formation of gendered, racialized, and sexualized subjectivities.
