The lectures will give an overview of the modern history of South Africa, from the early nineteenth century to the present. Lectures will deal with nineteenth century state formations, changes from pre-capitalist to capitalist economies with a special focus on the Zulu, early twentieth century African and Zulu nationalism, an overview of South Africa’s twentieth century history and the Southern African region developments, from the “Second wave of liberation” to BRICS.
