THE END OF THE COLD WAR: EUROPEAN AND GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES

The seminar will be organized in four sections:

1. Introduction: the "long 1970s" and the implosion of the Cold War
2. Global perspectives: The Cold War in the Third World
3. European perspectives: 1989 as revolution or collapse
4. The fall of the Soviet Union and its consequences for the world order. In sections 2, 3 and 4 students will have to discuss assigned readings.
