Quality Assurance Committee and other Committees

In order to carry out some of its functions, the Degree Programme Board is assisted by committees comprised of teachers involved in the programme. These committees are listed below, indicating their specific functions and contact persons.

QA Management Committee

The role of the Course Quality Assurance Management Committee is to assist the Coordinator in overseeing the quality assurance procedures and disseminating the quality culture.

To this end, the QA Management Committee is responsible for:

- verifying the implementation of the improvement actions approved annually by the Course Council in the Review Document;

- monitoring the career development of students, their opinion of the educational activities, their satisfaction at the end of their training and the employment status of graduates;

- sharing the results of the monitoring carried out with the Course Council. 

The Univeristy of Bologna has established that the Course QA Management Committee consists of the Coordinator, assisted by other members of the Course Council, including student representatives:

Area Representatives Committee

The Area Representatives Committee is made up of professors responsible for coordinating the teaching of the three curricula (History, Oriental Studies, Global Cultures). Each contact person is in charge of the teaching related to a thematic or chronological pathway and can be consulted by students in order to obtain advice on the preparation of the study plan or on training activities, study trips abroad and the completion of the thesis abroad that can usefully complement the pathway chosen by the student. Area Representatives can be contacted by email or during office hours.

Internship Committee

The Internship Committee consists of the course coordinator and the professors who act as tutors for the placement. The Committee evaluates applications from organisations/companies. The tutor must be chosen by the student when applying for the placement and is responsible for guiding the student in his/her choice and following the procedure for activating and completing the placement. Tutors can only be contacted once the process has been activated. For any other information about internship, please contact the Internship Office only.

Master's degree access committee

The Master's degree access committee is responsible for assessing students' career certificates and verifying whether they meet the requirements for admission to the course.

It is composed, on a rotating basis, of professors from the Master's Degree Course.

Department-student Joint Committee

The Department-student Joint Committee, to the extent of its responsibilities, examines issues encountered with the learning path and the experience of students, and draws them to the attention of the University bodies.

The Joint Committee:

  • monitors, using specific parameters, the programme catalogue and the quality of education and student services;
  • expresses opinions on the creation, activation, amendment and deletion of activities from the programme catalogue;
  • makes proposals to the School Board on education matters and on the allocation of financial resources in accordance with the University Statute;
  • prepares an annual report containing observations on the performance of the degree programme and its review activities.
