Information on how to prepare and present a study plan.
The study plan is the complete set of exams that you need to pass in order to get your degree. Some exams are compulsory, while others are elective. You can submit your Study Plan if you are regularly enrolled, up to date with the payment of university tuition fees, and, in the case of an international student, in possession of a valid residence permit.
You can submit your study plan in two periods during the academic year:
Students who submit their Study Plan by 26 November may make further changes for the current academic year during the subsequent submission period.
After the deadlines have expired, the last submitted Study Plan will be considered valid and no further changes will be allowed. The completed plan will be visible immediately after online submission in your AlmaEsami profile.
You may take an exam only if the course has been included in your Study Plan and the corresponding classes have been completed.
Students intending to graduate by the March 2027 graduation session, and therefore within the 2025/26 academic year, may no longer submit a study plan or modify courses previously selected.
Students who pay the first instalment of tuition fees for the new academic year and modify their Study Plan will not, under any circumstances, be eligible to apply for graduation in March 2027.
Important:
Students enrolled in years beyond the first who wish to change a course belonging to academic years prior to their current year of enrolment will not be allowed to take or officially register the new exam until the end of the current academic year's teaching activities.
Within the "One or More University training Activities" group, also referred to as the free-choice section, students may include:
The types of training activities that may be included as free-choice activities are:
It is not possible to include laboratories or internships, unless they are already offered by your own Degree Programme within the free-choice section at the time of completing the Study Plan.
When completing the online Study Plan, the system allows students to search for educational activities by entering the course code, course title, or lecturer's name.
To include courses offered by restricted-admission degree programmes among your free-choice credits, you must follow the procedure below:
If you are an enrolled student you can submit or change the study plan via Studenti Online only when the service is open. After making your choices, do not forget to click on “save” to complete the process. Also, we suggest to print a copy of the submitted study plan in order to check for formal or substantive errors that might arise after the upload.
If you are a student who has applied for a programme change or transfer, or if you have enrolled in a second degree programme with credit recognition starting from the 2017/18 academic year, you must also complete your Study Plan through the Studenti Online service using your University credentials.
You are required to present your study plan exclusively in hard-copy if:
For delivery of hard-copy form contact Segreteria studenti dei Corsi di studio di Studi Umanistici - sede di Bologna.
If you are enrolled in a four-year or five-year Old Order course of study and want to change your study plan contact Ufficio didattico.
Students who need to fill in the paper study plan must print the form corresponding to their year of enrollment:
Curriculum Scienze storiche
Curriculum Studio orientali
Curriculum Global cultures
Students in good standing must complete the Study Plan for the year of enrolment (1st, 2nd, or 3rd year) by placing an “X” next to the name of the training activity they wish to select.
Students in good standing or beyond the standard duration of studies who wish to replace some exams from previous years must place an “S” next to the course they intend to replace and an “X” next to the course they intend to include in the new study plan.
The form must include your student ID number, surname, name, date, mobile phone number, email address, and must be signed.
Students who have already submitted a study plan for the current academic year but are requesting new substitutions must write “modifica” at the top of the hard-copy form.
