Information on how to prepare and present a study plan
The study plan is the list of exams required to complete your degree. Some exams are mandatory, while others are elective. For specific information, refer to the page regarding the course structure diagrams.
We advise students to print a copy of their study plans once submitted. Having a printed copy of a study plan can be helpful in case of irregularities with Studenti Online.
Workshops and seminars have compulsory attendance and a limited number of places. It is advisable that students check the availability on the relevant course pages.
- Students enrolling in the academic year 2023-24 as out-of-course students (“student fuoricorso” in Italian) may modify their study plan only if they intend to graduate after the graduation session in Spring 2024. Those who intend to graduate within the session of March 2024 cannot make any changes to their study plans.
Anyone who is duly enrolled, in good standing with the payment of university fees and in possession of a valid residence permit in the case of an international student may submit the Study Plan.

Please note carefully:
- workshops have mandatory attendance and have a limited number of places. Before including them in the study plan, it is recommended to consult the teaching page to check their availability.
- students who are enrolling out of course / fuorcorso in the 2024-25 academic year may change their study plan only if they intend to graduate from the first summer session (July 2025). Those who intend to graduate by the March 2025 session cannot change the study plan.
- current students and students who are enrolled in the first year out of course / fuoricorso in the 2024-25 academic year can change the study plan. From the second year out of course/ fuoricorso on, changes in the study plan are no longer possible.
Current students may submit their study plan through the Studenti Online Service.
Once you have made your choices, remember to click on "save" so that your study plan can be correctly submitted.
Transfer students cannot use the Studenti Online Service and must therefore write to the degree programme office (see contacts box). Requests for submission or modification of the plan will only be accepted during the periods set aside for the submission of the study plan.
As part of the choice activities envisaged in the 2nd year, students may choose, in addition to the subjects suggested by the course of study, from among those activated by the Department of Political and Social Sciences and/or the University.
The courses activated at the Bologna Campus Master's degree level are pre-authorised and can be added to the plan via the Studenti Online Service.
For the Department's courses activated at the Master's degree courses on the Forlì Campus, their inclusion in the plan is subject to authorisation by the course offering the course. The request for authorisation must be addressed in a single e-mail to the Coordinator of the degree course and to the teacher of the course and, for information, to the Didactic Manager of the study course.
After obtaining the authorisation, it is necessary to request the inclusion of the teaching activity in the plan by sending it to the Degree programme office (see contacts box) :
- the Request Form for Free Choice Activities, completed and signed
- the nulla osta of the course providing the activity
For courses activated at Master's degree level outside the Department, it is necessary to request authorisation from the course providing the educational activity. In order to ascertain how to apply for authorisation, it is advisable to contact the course's Didactic Manager.
After obtaining the authorisation, it is necessary to request the inclusion of the training activity in the plan by sending it to the Degree programme office (see contacts box)
- the Request form for free-choice activities, completed and signed
- the nulla osta of the course providing the activity
Only requests sent during the period set aside for submitting/amending the study plan will be taken into consideration.
The tracks are mainly aimed at students of the International Affairs curriculum.
However, the track on Data Science can be adopted by all students, in particular students of the Curriculum in Crime, Justice and Security.
For the suggested tracks in the current academic year, please check out the tracks guide attached to this page (on the right).
The TRACKS are NOT compulsory: it is just an opportunity for you to build up a specialization on topics that we deem relevant for your training. Hence, you are free to decide to build your Study Plan as you wish, or to take the tracks as a point of reference and then adjust them to your convenience.
