Call for applications for the international curriculum in Italian Studies
Second Cycle Degree in Italian Studies and European Literary Cultures - Class: LM-14 (referring to the Italian Academic System)
The international curriculum in Italian Studies is conceived as an interdisciplinary educational path, combining the knowledge of the Italian culture with the knowledge of European and non-European cultural traditions and providing the theoretical, critical and methodological instruments to work in national and international cultural contexts.
The teaching language is mainly English, but students will also follow advanced teachings provided in Italian language during their second year.

Applications will be assessed by the Admission Board in accordance with the procedure outlined below.
Candidates that are not admitted may not apply for other intakes.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates are expected to be familiar with categories, instruments and languages of research in the field of humanities. The ability to analyze and contextualize texts, sources and different aspects of Italian culture is also required. Candidates must have an upper/intermediate proficiency in English language (B2 or equivalent) and are also expected to have a low/intermediate knowledge of Italian language, which will be improved during the first year thanks to specific Italian classes.
Curricular and Language Requirements
CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS
The present requirement information is conditional upon the ministerial approval.
To be eligible for admission, candidates must:
1- Hold a first cycle degree, or an equivalent degree achieved in another educational system, in one of the following classes (only for students who obtained their degree in the Italian academic system):
L‐3 DISCIPLINE DELLE ARTI FIGURATIVE, DELLA MUSICA, DELLO SPETTACOLO E DELLA MODA (VISUAL ARTS, MUSIC, PERFORMING ARTS AND FASHION STUDIES);
L‐5 FILOSOFIA (PHILOSOPHY);
L‐10 LETTERE (HUMANITIES);
L‐11 LINGUE E CULTURE MODERNE (MODERN LANGUAGES AND CIVILISATIONS);
L‐42 STORIA (HISTORY);
In addition to the possession of a degree as indicated, candidates with a bachelor in L-3, L-5, L-11 and L-42 must have obtained at least 27 ECTS in the following subject areas:
L-FIL-LET/10 – LETTERATURA ITALIANA (ITALIAN LITERATURE);
L-FIL-LET/11 – LETTERATURA ITALIANA CONTEMPORANEA (CONTEMPORARY ITALIAN LITERATURE);
L-FIL-LET/12 - LINGUISTICA ITALIANA (ITALIAN LINGUISTIC)
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Admission to the programme is subject to proving English language skills, equivalent to level B2 (or higher) of the Common European Framework (CEFR). Assessment of personal knowledge and skills
Admission to the 2nd cycle degree programme in Italian Studies is conditional on passing an online interview (on Microsoft Teams) to assess the candidates' personal competencies and skills in humanities and Italian culture.
GRADUATING STUDENTS
Students who are about to graduate, provided they have acquired 150 ECTS by the deadline of the chosen intake, can also apply. They will be admitted to the degree programme on the condition that they obtain their undergraduate degree by and no later than December 30th 2024.
Candidates who do not meet this requirement will be excluded.
