You may host students from the University of Bologna whose academic curriculum includes one or more internships, governed by the University Internship Regulations.
An internship is a flexible tool for training individuals who may become future collaborators. At the same time, it represents a fundamental opportunity for students to begin engaging with the professional world. It allows them to apply the knowledge gained in an academic setting and acquire new skills through hands-on experience.
To host a student for a curricular internship, you must:
Have an internship agreement with the University. In order to ask for the agreement, you need to register to the Internship Service for Companies/Organizations website and provide the required information. You can find detailed instructions in the "Undertake an internship agreement request" file located in the "How to" section.
Once the agreement has been signed by both parties, you can:
Publish a curricular internship offer via the Internship Service for Companies/Organizations under the “Offers” menu. The offer may be ad personam if the student has already been identified, or it may be addressed to one or more degree programmes. Instructions are available in the files within the "How to" section.
or
View and accept spontaneous applications submitted by students via the Internship Service for Companies/Organizations.
Please note:
You may not host interns who are related up to the second degree to the persons in charge (e.g. partners, executives, legal representatives).
Curricular internships are to be carried out in person. Internship commissions may authorize remote or blended modality after evaluating the internship project.
Before welcoming the intern, ensure that they have downloaded the attendance registrar from the University internship platform, which authorizes internship activities.
Generally, it takes about one working week to finalize the internship agreement from the moment of registration.
Once the company/organization has accepted the student's internship request, it usually takes approximately 15 working days before the internship can begin.
The duration of each internship is determined by the number of academic credits (CFU) required by the student's degree programme (1 CFU corresponds to 25–30 hours of activity) and must take place within the period specified in the attendance record book.
In accordance with current regulations, you are required to verify and, if necessary, supplement the intern’s training on health and safety in the workplace.
The University provides an online e-learning course that includes: General Training – Module 1 and Specific Training for Low-Risk Activities – Module 2
The University of Bologna provides accident and third-party liability insurance coverage exclusively for the period approved and recorded in the attendance record book, and solely for the activities specified in the internship programme. For more information on the insurance coverage provided, please refer to the University Insurance Service.
To obtain an extension of insurance coverage for travel to locations or facilities not included in the approved internship programme, the student must notify the Internship Office and the academic tutor in advance by email. The academic tutor must approve the request.
The email must include the following details:
Reason for the travel
Date and time
Full address of the destination (street/square, building number, city, etc.)
Insurance coverage will only be valid after the academic tutor has granted authorization.
Once the required number of internship hours has been completed, the tutor supervising the intern must:
Sign the student's attendance record book to certify the hours completed;
Fill out the final internship evaluation form, which is visible to the academic tutor and the internship office, but not to the student.
