To graduate, you have to sit a final examination designed to verify that you have reached the education objectives set by the Degree Programme. On this page you will find information on the procedures and deadlines for submitting your degree application.
The final examination involves writing a dissertation on a topic relevant to your studies, presented in an original manner and supervised by a principal supervisor and a co-supervisor.
The Graduation Guidelines are available in the attached files.
The application for the admission to the final examination must be submitted online, through Studenti Online (SOL) and requires the payment of a 32 € fee.
Applications submitted after the ordinary deadline but within the final cut-off date ("Late graduation application") must be submitted with a 100 € late fee.
Within the dates showed in the table below, students should:
- have paid all their tuition fees;
- have completed all exams. Please check on Almaesami that all your exams have been registered;
- have uploaded the thesis in PDF format via the Studenti Online service. It is possible to upload the thesis multiple times before the deadline for meeting the requirements. When uploading, the system will ask to specify keywords and enter a short abstract;
- have submitted and completed the AlmaLaurea Questionnaire through Studenti Online (SOL).
The Student Administration Office (Segreteria Studenti) will check each and every application: if some problems arise, students will be directly contacted and will be asked to regularize their position before the final examination.
The Application is valid only for one session. Students who wish to withdraw and/or postpone their graduation will have to apply again, following the entire procedure and paying extra-costs.
If students want to withdraw their Graduation Application they must inform the Student Administration Office (Segreteria Studenti – segscform-lingue@unibo.it) using their institutional e-mail address (name.surname@studio.unibo.it). The object of the mail should be ‘Rinuncia laurea’.
Each year there are four Graduation Sessions. In the table below please find all the deadlines for each session.

To graduate, you must propose a dissertation subject to a teacher within your Degree Programme, who will assess the validity of your proposal in relation to your study plan. You will have to prove to be able to put together and summarize a bibliography on the subject and re-elaborate it based on the required editorial rules.
The drafting of the thesis must be standard.
Pages: 32-35 lines, each one containing 65-70 letters (Accepted Fonts: Times, Courier o Helvetica)
- Figures and boards in UNI format (A4, A3);
- Boards folder adequately measured (A3 – correct thickness).
The Board expresses its assessment with a grade out of one hundred and ten. The exam is deemed to be passed with a minimum grade of 66/110 and a maximum grade of 110/110.
Any honours (‘lodi’) obtained in past examinations will not add to the final score: the ‘Summa cum laude’ merit awarded to the final grade of 110/110 – to be agreed between the Supervisor and the Co-Supervisor – may only be granted at the request of one of the commissioners and must be unanimously approved by all members of the commission.
See the information on how to calculate the average score based on your study programme
For further information on the matriculation of the previous years, see the website page.
The Final Examination Board, having taken into consideration the dissertation discussion and your curriculum, will decide the final grade, which will be proclaimed after the discussion (or published on the last day of the Graduation Session on Studenti Online).
