Second Cycle Degree/Two Year Master in Law, Economics and Governance

Student voices - Royal University of Law and Economics (RULE) in Cambodia

Coming from Southeast Asia myself, specifically from the Philippines, the exchange at the Royal University of Law and Economics (RULE) in Cambodia held a special place in my heart. I still remember being asked during my selection interview why I wanted to apply, and my answer was simple: I wanted to reconnect with my roots. Studying law, economics, and governance in a Southeast Asian context allowed me to better understand how these fields are deeply interconnected and shaped by history, development, and social realities similar to those I grew up with.

Beyond academics, living in Cambodia felt like both a discovery and a homecoming. It pushed me out of my comfort zone while also giving me a deeper sense of belonging and a renewed understanding of the region I come from. This exchange was not just an academic opportunity, but a personal journey that reshaped the way I see law, governance, and my own place within them.

My experience at the Royal University of Law and Economics in Cambodia has been a game-changer for me. The professors helped me see economic and political issues in a whole new light, which really opened my mind. I’m definitely more excited about exploring job opportunities in Asia in the near future.

Being a student at RULE university was a unique experience. Everyone there did their best to accomodate us for our stay and it was great to get in touch with local students who were very open and interested in cultural exchange. It was a great experience to stay for a couple of weeks and it allowed us to actually get a glimpse of how it is to live in a city like Phnom Penh. It was also great to experience a few other places around Cambodia and even in Vietnam.

Studying at RULE University has been a fantastic opportunity, as I had the chance to take some stimulating courses that expanded my knowledge in areas that I like the most. This experience not only broadened my knowledge and future perspectives, but also provided me with a deeper understanding of these fields from a completely different point of view. It wasn’t just the academic experience that helped me to grow, in fact, living in Cambodia was also a personal journey. Immersing myself in the local culture allowed me to connect with inspiring people and gain a new perspective on the world. It was a perfect combination of learning and personal growth. I am truly grateful for this experience and can’t wait to apply everything I’ve learned in my future path.
