Second Cycle Degree/Two Year Master in Law, Economics and Governance

What graduates say about us

I obtained a Master’s Degree within the LEGo program with a specialized focus on Digital Regulation.

My dissertation provides a critical examination of the legal implications of automated decision-making systems and their interaction with the right to be forgotten within the European framework. I am currently employed as a tax lawyer at Deloitte, where I apply the skills developed throughout my legal and economic education.

Camilla Mazzuccato

I can only reminisce fond memories with my colleagues and professors

When I decided to apply, I was intrigued by the unique interplay between law and economics that LEGO offered. Today, as a trainee at the European Commission’s Secretariat General, I continue to build on the legal-economic foundations, which have shaped my critical thinking and adaptability.

It is my honour to share my experience as a member of the inaugural cohort of the master's degree in Law, Economics and Governance (LEGo) at the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna. The role I hold today would not have been possible without the vision and commitment of the LEGo programme and the University of Bologna.

My time at LEGo was truly transformative. The programme’s international structure, taught entirely in English and enriched by a diverse cohort of students, created a vibrant and intellectually stimulating environment. Its interdisciplinary approach, combining legal and economic disciplines through both theory and practice, particularly through frequent presentations and case discussions that I still draw upon in my current work, pushed me beyond my comfort zone and equipped me with the tools to thrive in complex professional settings.

I am deeply grateful to the distinguished professors and lecturers, both renowned academics and seasoned professionals, whose dual perspectives brought depth and relevance to every lesson. Their guidance helped bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world practice, preparing us to face future professional challenges with confidence.
LEGo also offered direct exposure to the professional world. Over the course of two years, I completed internships in audit with two different firms: first with a local company, then with an international one. These experiences were instrumental in shaping my understanding of the sector and refining my career goals.

What I appreciated most was the programme’s flexibility and openness to support new initiatives. Thanks to this, I was able to focus my thesis on ESG assurance practices, a topic still emerging at the time. Under the supervision of a leading expert in the audit sector, I studied a company navigating ESG reporting for the first time. That research became the cornerstone of my entry into the ESG field.

Today, I work in the ESG Assurance Practice at PwC Luxembourg, supporting both traditional and alternative investment funds in ESG reporting and compliance. The interdisciplinary training I received, including courses such as Organizational Management, continues to inform my daily work in multicultural and global contexts.
LEGo was not only about academic growth, it was also about people. Many of those I met during the programme have become lifelong friends and professional connections. Collaborating with peers from around the world taught me the true meaning of teamwork, adaptability, and cross-cultural communication, skills that are now essential in my professional life abroad.

My sincere gratitude goes to everyone who played a part in the development and success of LEGo and the University of Bologna for this incredible journey. Without a doubt, the knowledge and experience I gained through LEGo have been instrumental in my personal discovery and professional growth. Thank you for your trust, your guidance, and for shaping the professionals of tomorrow.

My academic journey at the University of Bologna has been a true compass in both my life and career. After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management, I decided to stay at UniBo for the Master’s program in LEGO – Law, Economics and Governance, convinced that staying here would mean high-quality education, constant inspiration, and real growth. I couldn’t have been more right: if I could go back, I would make the same choice without hesitation.

LEGO taught me to approach challenges strategically, to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills, and, most importantly, to believe in myself. It is thanks to LEGo that I have found my path as a Customer Success Manager at IASIOS - the world’s first and only accreditation system dedicated to interventional oncology (IO), based in Vienna, Austria. IO is the most innovative branch of interventional radiology, offering cancer patients minimally invasive, precise, and effective treatments. These procedures allow many patients to avoid complex surgeries, reduce pain and side effects, and get back to their daily lives faster, improving their quality of life during and after treatment. IASIOS helps hospitals worldwide achieve the highest standards of quality, safety, and effectiveness at every stage of the patient journey.

In my role, I guide physicians from some of the world’s leading hospitals through the entire accreditation process, supporting them every step of the way. I attend international congresses in countries such as Portugal, Spain, the UK, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and Denmark, contributing to organizing and co-hosting workshops. I also handle invoices, manage industry grants, and coordinate the financial resources needed for projects and international congresses. Every day, my work combines strategy, relationships, and passion, and directly contributes to IASIOS’s mission: raising the standards of care in interventional oncology and improving patients’ lives worldwide.

None of this would have been possible without LEGo. The programme gave me the skills, discipline, and confidence to take on complex challenges, taught me to think strategically, and helped me believe in my own abilities. I will always carry with me not only the knowledge I gained, but also the incredible people I met, the lessons I learned, and the understanding that passion and dedication can transform a career - and, most importantly, make a real difference in people’s lives.

Thanks to LEGO, I can now look to the future with enthusiasm, excitement and confidence. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to grow not just professionally, but personally, because it’s a programme that challenges you, inspires you, and equips you to turn your dreams into reality.

Carlotta Marchesin

It is a great honour to be part of the LEGo community at the University of Bologna, a programme that has played a fundamental role in shaping both my academic and professional journey. The Master’s Degree in Law, Economics and Governance offered a truly interdisciplinary education that bridged the worlds of law, economics, and management, preparing me to approach complex corporate challenges with an analytical and strategic mindset.

My time at LEGo was a period of deep intellectual growth. The programme’s combination of theoretical knowledge and practical perspectives encouraged me to think critically and to understand how institutions, markets, and people interact. This experience profoundly influenced my way of working, teaching me to balance legal awareness with business efficiency and to approach every task with adaptability and curiosity.

After completing my degree, I moved to Milan and began my professional journey in consulting, working at Lipari Consulting. In this position, I gained hands-on experience in financial analysis, ESG strategy, and project management, contributing to research and strategic recommendations for cross-functional teams. This first experience allowed me to apply the analytical tools I had developed at university to real business contexts and to strengthen my problem-solving and teamwork skills.

I then joined Zegna in the Indirect Procurement department, where I supported supplier negotiations, contract analysis, and cost monitoring. This position gave me the opportunity to apply my legal and economic competencies to procurement processes within a global luxury brand. Working in indirect procurement taught me the importance of precision, compliance, and collaboration across departments — elements that are essential in any international business environment.

Today, I am proud to serve as a Sourcing Specialist at Dolce&Gabbana Beauty, managing the procurement of marketing materials and special projects from initial briefings to production. My role requires coordinating multiple stakeholders, balancing creativity with operational efficiency, and ensuring that every product reflects the brand’s excellence and identity. The skills and perspectives I gained during my studies — particularly critical thinking, negotiation, and strategic coordination — have been instrumental in navigating this fast-paced and dynamic environment.

I am sincerely grateful to the professors and peers who made my LEGo experience so enriching and inspiring. The programme not only provided me with technical and managerial knowledge but also instilled in me a commitment to continuous learning and ethical responsibility. The values and mindset I developed at the University of Bologna continue to guide my professional growth, driving me to contribute with integrity, creativity, and purpose to the ever-evolving world of business and luxury.

Camilla Lapi

I am Camilla Lapi, alumna of the Master’s Degree in Law, Economics and Governance. The two years I spent at LEGo were an extraordinarily stimulating and formative academic experience: thanks to its international environment, innovative and multidisciplinary approach, and participatory teaching methods, the course provided me with a solid and cross-cutting preparation, perfectly aligned with the challenges of the professional world.

I had the honor of being the very first graduate of the program, defending a thesis in Law and Economics of Social Insurance titled “The law and economics rationales behind COVID-19 vaccination mandates”, under the supervision of Professor Francesco Paolucci. To date, I am the Founder and Project Leader of ReViva, an innovative project in the biotech and digital health sector that has received numerous national and European recognitions in just a few months: at ReViva, I manage the entire project and  multidisciplinary team, ensuring alignment with regulations and economic sustainability.

In addition, I am currently working as a Business Analyst Consultant at Sopra Steria, within the Supply Chain area, where I focus on change management, functional and organizational analysis, and process optimization continuing to leverage the interdisciplinary and strategic vision that LEGo instilled in me. To those who choose to embark on this path, I would
say that LEGo is not just a degree, but a transformative experience: it broadens your perspective, connects diverse fields, and prepares you to become a professional capable of innovating and leading change.

With curiosity, commitment, and passion, LEGo can truly be the launching pad for a meaningful and impactful career.

Stefano Zerbo

One of the things I loved most about LEGo was its deeply collaborative approach. Many courses are designed to spark teamwork and critical thinking—skills that have proven to be invaluable training for today’s fast-paced, dialogue-driven workplace.

The flexibility of the programs and the wide range of subjects—from economics to international law, Internet law, and organizational management—allowed me to balance my studies with my journey as a working student. During my university years, I successfully completed a year of civil service and worked as a social-health operator at Casa Santa Chiara, a cooperative that became the focus of my thesis and remains close to my heart.

The values of cooperation and teamwork I learned at LEGo were essential during my internship in the Communications Office at Emil Banca Credito Cooperativo. Today, I work as a Marketing Technician at RV Venturoli, a company specializing in the research, production, and sale of high-quality seeds. Alongside administration and accounting, I passionately manage corporate communications, social media, and marketing.

In my current workplace, where I’m lucky to collaborate with people who help me grow every day, teamwork is truly key. And it’s thanks to LEGo that I can now put into practice, in a corporate setting, all those values of collaboration and sharing that the program instilled in me.

The Master’s Degree in Law, Economics and Governance was an extraordinary journey—one that enriched me not only academically and professionally, but also on a human level. It gave me the chance to meet incredible people, build genuine connections, and share unforgettable moments.

These people, and the values we built together, will always stay with me.
Thank you, LEGo.

I am truly grateful for my experience in the "Law, Economics and Governance" master’s program at the University of Bologna. This multidisciplinary Master's Degree allowed me to develop a solid knowledge base in economics, law, and governance, while learning in an environment that encouraged critical thinking, collaboration, and personal growth. I also developed strong relationships with classmates, many of whom became close friends, and who supported me throughout the entire program.

Through various courses, group projects, and active discussions, I strengthened key analytical, communication, and teamwork skills. The Erasmus experience in Antwerp and my internship at the Chamber of Commerce of Trento further enriched my studies, offering international exposure and direct contact with institutional and economic realities.

After graduating, I entered the education sector, working as a business economics and accounting teacher in high schools in my hometown. Moving to the other side of the classroom, becoming a teacher, has been both challenging and rewarding: I now have the opportunity to help young students understand how the economic system works, spark their curiosity, and encourage their growth and critical thinking.

The LEGO program played a fundamental role in preparing me for this career, equipping me with the knowledge, mindset, and confidence to contribute to the learning and development of future generations.

Benedetta D’Argenzio

Law, Economics and Governance, Class of 2022-2024

With deep gratitude, I look back on my journey in the master’s program Law, Economics and Governance at the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna. Joining this program was much more than an academic path for me: it was a journey of personal discovery, growth, and openness to new perspectives.

LEGo taught me to think across disciplines, to see culture and economics not as separate worlds but as languages capable of dialoguing and creating value together. Its fl exibility gave me the freedom to explore and truly understand where I wanted to go. Above all, it gave me extraordinary people — colleagues and friends who are now part of my everyday life.

The Erasmus experience in Angers, France, is a chapter I will always carry with me. Studying in an international environment and attending MBA courses in strategy and European policies opened my eyes to new ways of understanding work, culture, and life itself.

LEGo also led me to my fi rst step into the professional world: an internship at BAM! Strategie Culturali in Bologna, which marked the beginning of my career path. Today, at BAM!, I work in the Publics and Impacts area, where I focus on analyzing, monitoring, and evaluating cultural projects. My work combines audience research, measurement of social and cultural impact, and strategic support for institutions and territories that seek to understand and expand the value of their cultural actions. It’s a role that allows me to merge the analytical rigor gained through my studies with my conviction that culture is a real driver of change — and to bring together passion and profession every day.

If I have found my path today, I owe it also to LEGo: to what it taught me, to the people I met, and to the awareness that knowledge, when shared, truly has the power to transform things.

Marta Alberini

When I chose to enroll in the LEGo course back in September 2022, it was because I saw something truly special in its cross-disciplinary and innovative approach. I felt it could be the key to shaping the kind of future and professional path I was aiming for. At the time, LEGo was still a brand-new program, constantly evolving - and seeing how much it has grown since then, and the incredible potential it still holds, only confirms that I made the right choice.

Being part of this course has really broadened my horizons, both academically and personally. I’ve had the chance to dive into topics that span economics, law, and organizational studies, and this mix has helped me develop a problem-solving mindset that takes into account all the different variables involved. That kind of thinking has turned out to be incredibly valuable in the workplace.

But it wasn’t just about the subjects. The human side of the experience was just as important. From the professors to my fellow classmates, I met and connected with people who were not only intellectually stimulating but also genuinely inspiring. Many of them have become close friends and trusted companions. The international perspective, the collaborative teaching style, and the relevance of the topics we explored are all major strengths of LEGo - and I can say that with confidence, having worked as a tutor on the course for two years.

Thanks to LEGo, I was able to enrich my academic journey with an Erasmus exchange in Belgium and an internship at the Italian Embassy in Lisbon. The analytical skills I developed during the course proved to be incredibly useful even in a unique field like diplomacy. Now, I’ve stepped into the professional world with an internship in Compliance and Data Protection at GOSP – Generali Online Service Platform, part of the Assicurazioni Generali group. My work focuses on risk assessment, data governance, and managing data processing procedures. It’s a dynamic and stimulating environment, and I’m learning a lot every day -  and I got here precisely because of the value of my multidisciplinary background. I’m not sure if this is the path I’ll follow for the rest of my life, but thanks to the flexibility and soft skills I gained through LEGo, I feel confident that I’ll be able to adapt to whatever comes next.

So my advice? Make the most of everything this course has to offer - and go for it, always!

Filippo Ciogli

When I decided to join the LEGo Master’s program, I wanted a path that could combine my passion for economics with a deeper understanding of legal and social dynamics. Today, I can confidently say that choice was truly invaluable!

LEGo offers a unique interdisciplinary perspective. It pushes you to look at problems from different angles, connect economic and legal concepts, and understand how they shape the world around us. It’s a program that trains your critical thinking and adaptability—skills that are essential in today’s job market. Employers are looking for professionals who can analyze issues from multiple viewpoints and thrive in any environment.

Another aspect I loved was the international atmosphere. At first, the idea of studying entirely in English felt intimidating. But over time, that challenge became one of the most rewarding parts of the experience. It helped me step out of my comfort zone, overcome the fear of judgment, and significantly improve my English skills.

Working alongside people from diverse backgrounds taught me the value of collaboration and open-mindedness. Through group projects and presentations, I learned how to communicate effectively, manage shared responsibilities, and turn differences into strengths.

Today, I’m completing an internship in marketing at CRIF, where I apply the skills I gained during the program every day. The LEGo approach—analyzing problems from economic, legal, and strategic perspectives—helps me interpret market dynamics, understand data, and collaborate with colleagues from different fields.

This experience confirmed how important it is to combine a solid theoretical foundation with the soft skills that LEGo helped me develop—skills I now consider essential for my professional journey.
