From Academic Year 2026/2027 the Degree Programme in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology will no longer be activated.
There will be a new Master's Degree, comprising both the Pharmaceutical and the Industrial aspects of Biotechnology.
The new MSc in Pharmaceutical and Industrial Biotechnology is an interclass Master’s Degree Course that provides training in both Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (Master’s Degree Class LM‑9) and Industrial Biotechnology (Master’s Degree Class LM‑8). The Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical and Industrial Biotechnology, taught in English, lasts two years and aims to train a specialized and versatile professional figure capable of integrating effectively into the highly dynamic and multidisciplinary context of pharmaceutical and industrial biotechnology.
Graduates of this interclass Master’s Degree distinguish themselves through their interdisciplinary education and their ability to integrate advanced biotechnologies for human health (the so‑called “red” biotechnologies) with those for industrial processes (the so‑called “white” biotechnologies). They acquire a multifaceted preparation, with a high level of technological and experimental knowledge and skills. They develop the expertise needed to design, conduct, and manage research and development activities in biotechnologies applied to human health, with particular focus on the design, characterization, and formulation of innovative and biotechnological drugs. At the same time, they gain advanced skills for professional activities involving research and production of sustainable goods and services in the various sectors of industrial biotechnology and bioprocesses.
