Are you a private company or an institution?

If your organisation is willing to host students of the University of Bologna for curricular internships, including those in preparation for the final examination/thesis, the first step is drawing up a general agreement governing curricular internships. 

Please go to Internships - University of Bologna and click on register, then enter required information and submit your request to settle a curricular internship agreement, according to the procedure available among attachments.

After registration, you will receive the agreement to sign and send us back. 

Once the internship agreement is signed by both parties, it will be uploaded onto the University internship app and you will then be able to post internship offers for students who have to start a curricular internship.

A curricular internship can start only after authorisation of University on Internships - University of Bologna, after the student will have downloaded the attendance record book.

Internship offers always include an internship programme, that can be targeted:

• to a single student who has already been selected (“ad personam” offer) by the Host organisation for the activation of the internship

 -    to students enrolled on different courses (“open” offer) who are looking for internship opportunities

 -    accordingly with procedures available among attachments

The Host organisation is responsible for screening students’ applications.

Every offer includes an internship programme that must be:

• accepted by the student
• approved by the academic tutor and the Internship Board before the internship starts

After approvals, the student and the tutor at the Host organisation will electronically sign the internship programme on the University app.

The student can download the attendance record book and to start the internship, according to the approved period stated on it.  

The duration is determined by the number of ECTS assigned to it by the Degree programme (1 ECTS is equal to min.25/max.30 internship hours).

All internship hours must be carried out within the period approved by the Internship Board, stated in the student’s attendance record book.

The period within which all internship hours must be completed may not exceed 12 months, unless differently foreseen by single Degree programmes.

The University provides interns with insurance cover for injuries suffered while carrying out activities outlined in the internship programme, as well as with third-party liability insurance for any involuntary damages and losses caused to third parties (persons and/or possessions) while performing those activities. Intern's travels from his/her usual place of residence to the place of internship or vice versa are not included, by whatever means they are made.

If the intern needs to travel to locations not included in the internship programme already approved by the University, he/she must:

1) arrange this in advance with the tutor at the Host organisation 

2) send an email to the academic tutor to request authorization, including the tutor at the Host organisation and the Internship Office in the “CC” field, and wait for the academic tutor’s authorization via email

The request must be submitted before the trip; the extension of insurance coverage takes effect only after authorization is granted.

After the student has carried out the amount of internship hours indicated on the attendance record book, the tutor at the Host organisation has to:

• sign the attendance record book of the student to confirm the working hours and the internship period
• sign the internship final report delivered by the student (or any other documentation, if required from the Degree programme)
• fill out the questionnaire regarding the internship
