Programme enrolment: requirements, deadlines and methods

To be admitted to the degree programme students must apply only online through the Studenti online platform (switch the language into English) by uploading all necessary documents required (passport for non-EU students, a valid identity document for EU students, Copy of a first cycle/Bachelor’s degree and/or Transcript of Records, Curriculum vitae et studiorum,  English Language Proficiency certificate).

Only complete applications will be assessed by the Admission Board. 

Timely applications are highly recommended, especially for non-EU students, because eligible Applicants must apply for an entry visa for study purposes at the Italian Embassy in your country and pre-enrol online via the Universitaly portal.

Contact the Italian Embassy / Consulate well in advance to find out the requirements/deadlines for obtaining an entry visa. The Italian Embassy can ask you to provide further documents that are not needed to get admission to this programme.

NOTE: 

- pre-enrolment procedure at the Italian Embassy does not grant enrolment to the programme. Your official enrolment will be subject to verification of the authenticity, the accreditation, the level and the academic rights of the qualifications by the Student Administration Office of the University of Bologna, once the original documents have been received.

To be admitted to the Master's Degree program in Photochemistry and Molecular Materials, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree, a three-year university diploma, or another qualification obtained abroad, recognized as equivalent.
Additionally, the following curricular requirements must be met.
Candidates must have obtained a degree in one of the following categories:
• Under D.M. 270:
L-27 Chemical Sciences and Technologies
LM-13 Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy
• Under D.M. 509/99:
L-21 Chemical Sciences and Technologies
14/S Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy
• Previous system (before D.M. 509/99):
Degree in Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry
• Other qualifications obtained abroad, recognized as equivalent by the Master's Degree Programme Board.

Alternatively, candidates with a degree in a different category must have acquired at least  60 university credits in basic scientific disciplines, with at least 20 credits in the following scientific-disciplinary sectors:
• from CHIM/01 to CHIM/12;
• BIO/10 - BIO/11;
• from ING-IND/22 to ING-IND/27.

Admission to the Master's Degree program is also subject to passing an assessment of the
adequacy of the candidate's personal knowledge.

Along with the above-mentioned curricular requirements, admission to the Master's Degree programme is in any case subject to the assessment of personal knowledge and skills-

The assessment, carried out by an Admission Board, will be conducted through an analysis of the documentation submitted in the application phase, which includes: relevance of the degree, final graduation grade or grade point average, grades achieved in individual courses, relevance of the courses to the program content, disciplinary knowledge, or specific professional experience.

For candidates who have graduated or are enrolled in the degree classes L-27 (under D.M.270), L-21 (under D.M. 509/99), or Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry (previous system prior to D.M. 509/99), the adequacy of personal preparation will be considered fulfilled if:

• The graduate has obtained a final grade equal to or greater than 100/110.
• In the case of candidates who have yet to graduate, they have obtained at least 80% of the required credits and their weighted average grade on completed exams is equal to or greater than 27/30.

For candidates who have graduated or are enrolled in all other Italian or foreign degree classes, the adequacy of personal preparation will be assessed by the Admission Board through a comprehensive evaluation of the curriculum vitae et studiorum, which includes: relevance of the degree, final graduation grade or grade point average, grades achieved in individual courses, relevance of the courses to the program content, disciplinary
knowledge, or specific professional experience. The Commission reserves the right to invite
applicants for an interview.

The English language proficiency at CEFR B2 level is required for the admission to the degree programme.

Candidates meet the requirements by providing one of the following certifications:

1. an international certificate at B2 level among the ones listed in the document "English language proficiency certificates" in the "English language requirements" box on the right side of this page.
2. Transcript of records demonstrating a CEFR English B2 exam passed during the first/second cycle programme: valid only if the level of proficiency is clearly stated in the course title (ex: English B2/ Idoneità linguistica di lingua inglese B2, etc.). If the level is not clearly indicated in the course title, a declaration of the level issued by the Professor in charge of the completed course is required;
3. status of English native speakers.
4. CEFR English B2 certification provided by any Italian University Language Center (CLA) or any other recognized certifying body (valid only if the certificate states the exact name of the body/school/institute issuing the certificate, level obtained and exam date);
5. online Oxford English proficiency test provided by UNIBO CLA (with a result no lower than CEFR English B2): the test can be sat ONCE ONLY in one of the set dates.
