STRIKE OF UNIVERSITY LECTURERS – COMMUNICATION TO STUDENTS

We would like to inform all students that a strike has been called by the Movement for the Dignity of University Lectures, made up of a group of university lecturers and researchers from a number of different universities in Italy, in the period 1 June – 31 July 2018. The lecturers who choose to go strike will do so on the day of the first exam of the summer session.

With regard to the way that the strike will be organised, the lecturers will collaborate in order to guarantee:

  • at least one exam data in the period 1 June - 31 July. As a consequence, when only one exam has been scheduled for this period, and when this exam falls within this time frame, the degree courses must fix an extra exam date at least 14 days after the strike;
  • an extra ‘ad hoc’ exam, usually 7 days after the strike, for those near to completing their degrees and for Erasmus students when the exam is the last one for students before graduating or before finishing their ‘Erasmus’ study period;
  • an extra ‘ad hoc’ exam usually 7 days after the strike, for students who are pregnant;
  • an extra ‘ad hoc’ exam usually 7 days after the strike for students who can provide evidence of medical problems requiring particular care.

As we are aware that those who have called the strike and those who will participate in it in no way wish to damage the student community, we have asked all lecturers to collaborate fully in guaranteeing that exams will be held in the way set out above.

We also guarantee that we will do all in our power to ensure that the postponing of some exams do not result in excessive harm to the student community.
