Second Cycle Degree/Two Year Master in Statistical Sciences

Advisory Board

The Advisory Board has been established to maintain ongoing contact with the worlds of industry, services, and the professions, in order to gather feedback and guidance on the degree programme’s educational goals. It meets at least once a year.
It is composed of individuals from business, the third sector, the professions, public and private institutions involved in education and research, and civil society, who can offer meaningful contributions to the teaching and research activities relevant to the degree programme.
At least one faculty member of the Quality Assurance Committee is also part of the Advisory Board.

The importance of an Advisory board for a Master's degree

The effectiveness of a degree course depends not only on the quality of teaching activities offered to students but also on the link with local and international companies and institutions and the needs of the global labour market. It is therefore crucial for a degree course to establish and maintain regular contact with representatives of organisations and companies in the production, social and institutional system of reference for the degree course at regional, national and international level in order to establish a permanently active contact with the parties interested in graduates of the degree course and to facilitate the matching of supply and demand in the labour market.

Activities

Members of the the Advisory board set up for the Master's degree in Statistical Sciences are periodically consulted for numerous activities; for example:

  • assessing the suitability of the professional profiles trained by the Master's degree to the requirements of the companies and organisations where the Advisory Board members work;
  • gathering indications on any new skills required by the labour market;
  • obtaining suggestions useful for planning and revising the content of teaching activities offered by the Master's degree;
  • creating collaborations for teaching purposes (seminars, short courses), to help students enter the labour market (curricular internships) and prepare the final dissertation (internships for the Master's thesis preparation);
  • developing applied research projects in collaboration with students and lecturers of the Master's degree.

These synergies are expected to both improve the professional profiles of graduates and facilitate their entry into the labour market.
