Call for application CLAMSS 2024/25

Admission to academic year 2024/25

General information on admission requirements and deadlines for the new edition of the Master (academic year 2024/25). Classes will start in September 2024.

To attend the Master’s Degree in Statistical Sciences it is necessary to have adequate knowledge of mathematics, statistics and probability tools at undergraduate level. Since the course is entirely taught in English admission is subjected also to the assessment of the proficiency in English Language.

Admission requirements

- If you have a foreign qualification, read the specific information before continuing.

- If you are a non-EU citizen resident abroad, read the specific information before continuing.

 

To be admitted to the selection process, it is necessary to:

1. have at least a First-Cycle Degree (Bachelor’s) in Statistics or a different degree from an Italian or foreign university with an adequate number of credits in the area of statistics and mathematics. 

One of the following curricular requirements must be met:

    a) A first cycle degree in one of the following classes:

         - ex. Italian Ministerial Decree no. 270: L-41 - Statistics

         - ex. Italian Ministerial Decree no. 509/99: class 37 - Statistical Sciences

         - Previous four-year degree program system: Degree in Statistics, Demographic and Social Sciences; Degree in Statistics and Economic Sciences; Degree in Statistical and Actuarial Sciences

         - Three-year university degree:  Statistics equivalent to classes L-41 and 37

         - An equivalent qualification obtained abroad

     b) Or, alternatively, the possession of a first cycle degree in a different class having acquired                    credits (ECTS) in the following subject areas:

         - PROBABILITY AND STATISTICS (at least 15 ECTS)
            (Italian scientific sectors: SECS-S/01, SECS-S/02, SECS-S/03, SECS-S/04, SECS-S/05, SECS-P/05, MAT/06)

         - MATHEMATICS (at least 10 ECTS)
           (Italian scientific sectors: SECS-S/06, MAT/02, MAT/03, MAT/05, MAT/06, MAT/07, MAT/08, MAT/09)

Students who have not completed their first level degree (Bachelor's) may participate in the selection process and can matriculate before the graduation, but they must graduate within December 30th, 2024.

2. have an English language knowledge certification. Candidates must possess a minimum B2 level or equivalent in order to be admitted to the selection procedure. The English language requirement is fulfilled in the following cases:

  • Certification by the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo (CLA) of Unibo (or from the Linguistic Center of your University)

  • English Language certification among the following: TOEFL, ISE, IELTS, Cambridge English Language Assessment, Trinity College London (issued no longer than 4 years prior to the deadline for application). A table of correspondence is available at this page

  • B2 level English exam in the Bachelor’s study plan (to be indicated in the Form)

  • OOPT Test in English obtaining the B2 level. The University of Bologna gives prospective students of the second cycle degree in Statistical Sciences the opportunity to test their English Proficiency from home with remote monitoring through the OOPT (Oxford Online Placement Test).   • Holding a degree completely taught in English

  • The applicant is an English native speaker (to be indicated in the Form)


Assessment

Candidates' personal competencies and required knowledge are assessed by a Board through the examination of the curriculum vitae and the other documents uploaded by candidates. Overall assessments will be based on the following aspects:  

  1. Academic merit: it refers to the marks obtained on individual courses and/or to the final graduation score obtained (if obtained): max 50 points.   
  2. Consistency between the candidate’s previous studies and the learning objectives of the Master’s in Statistical Sciences: max 50 points. Applicants who do not have at least 15 credits in probability and statistics and at least 10 credits in mathematics will get 0 points.

ENGLISH B2 TEST: News for the 2024/25 academic year

Students without any certification can demonstrate their knowledge of the English Language through the OOPT (Oxford Online Placement Test) freely available to candidates to CLAMSS. For information click here.

The CLA organizes test sessions to assess English language skills for the candidacy of international master's degrees.

The test results in a CEFR level equal to the student's competence: Oxford Online Placement Test therefore recognizable as an incoming B2 certification.

Tuition Fee Amounts

Tuition fees are calculated based on the 2023 ISEE value with special subsidies in relation to the right to higher education. First year students with an ISEE value up to a specific threshold benefit from full exemption; the relevant ISEE threshold will be released by the end of May 2023. Above this limit, tuition fees are calculated progressively.

The ISEE value must be submitted, even if you have not enrolled in the Degree Programme, by 30 October 2023, at 6:00pm (or by 15 November 2023, at 6:00pm, paying a €100 penalty) accessing ER-GO Online Services, alternatively you will have to pay the full amount.

If you are an international student, verify how your tuition fees will be calculated according to your country of origin and the country where your family has income and assets.

Matriculation

After you have checked that all the admission requirements have been met, you can enrol on  Studenti Online:

  1. fill in the application for matriculation with the required information and attach a passport photo in digital format;
  2. pay the first instalment of your tuition fees;
  3. follow the instructions to complete the procedure which you will find on Studenti Online according to your profile.
