Why study Wellness Culture: sport, health and tourism?

The course is a second cycle degree that aims at preparing professionals in the field of events/activities planning and management that overall are oriented at promoting the culture of wellness and health.

Italy has long been in the center of the international attention on the issues concerning the well-being and quality of life. By today they have become its brands. What was missing until now is a training project, aimed not just at forming expertise in specific areas, but rather at preparing professionals being able to work on the culture of well-being as a "system" within a territory. Therefore, both the University of Bologna and the institutional players of the territory (various business agents that are engaged in the promotion of culture, which focuses on the "Quality of Life" theme) emerged the proposal to create an educational master level degree dedicated to Wellness Culture and has its focus on the three areas: Sport, Health, Tourism.

This course is intended to reconcile the global dimension. The principle of "think globally and act locally" which is the basis of the concept of sustainable development, is the core of the educational structure of this programme, assuming the Wellness- as we think – is based on the principle of "sustainable welfare" (Wellbeing). As such it is not a concept objectively circumscribed; it requires the ability of the future degree holder to design interventions and apply knowledge as well as skills in a specific field (locally), but with the responsibility and capability of integrating potential and resources (globally).
