Preparing the study plan

Information on how to prepare and present a study plan.

WHAT IS A STUDY PLAN?

The study plan is the complete set of exams that you need to sit in order to graduate. Some exams are compulsory, while others are elective.

Starting from  your second year, you will have to complete your study plan:  add optional subjects/electives to the study plan (minimum 8 CFU) and to select the typology of the final examination (12+3 CFU).

Electives

Students have to choose electives for not less than  8 CFU in order to complete the 120 credit that are mandatory to graduate in a second cycle degree programme.

Students can also decide to add more than 8 cfu, max 24 cfu,  if they wish to attend and pass additional exams.

Final examination

The final examination to graduate in the 2nd cycle degree programme consists in the production and public discussion of an original dissertation written in English, accompanied by an abstract in English; the dissertation must be an original development of the student, based on a topic that is consistent with the programme objectives, and developed under the guidance of a supervising professor. The Committee of the Master’s Degree will assess the level of originality of the work and the student’s capacity to work in an autonomous way, to present and defend the outcomes of his/her work in a clear way and with full mastery of the research project.

You can choose to develop your dissertation and prepare your final examination in Italy or abroad.

WHO CAN PRESENT A STUDY PLAN?

A study plan can be presented by properly enrolled students who have paid their tuition fees and, in the case of international students, who hold a valid residence permit.

Please note : after the completion of the second year, '' fuori corso '' students who are regularly enrolled for the subsequent year and have paid their fees can change their study plan but if they decide to do so, they will not be eligible for the graduation session in March ; the first graduation session available for them will be in July.

You can present and amend your study plan in two periods during the academic year.
