Recognition of extra university activities

If you have carried out an extra -university activity consistent to the degree programme learning activities you can ask for the recognition of this activity in lieu of an internship.

An extra-university activity is usually defined as a working activity or an activity assimilated to it , such as, for example, an internship activated independently through another sponsoring institution other than the university (internship training for a job placement).

To apply for recognition, 25 hours of activity are required for each CFU (e.g., at least 100 hours must be attested for the 4 CFU internship, 250 hours for a 10 CFU internship).

The maximum limit of recognizable CFU of work activity in lieu of curricular internship is 12 CFU.

Activities already recognized for the purpose of awarding credits  during the undergraduate courses/1st cycle degrees may not be again recognized as course credits for master's degree courses.

It is possible to apply for recognition at any time of the year,  at least 6 months before the date of graduation, regardless of the existence of an agreement between the University and the host entity at which the extra-university activity was carried out.
If the internship for which recognition is sought is by choice, it must be included in the study plan before applying.

As with the internship, it is not possible to apply for recognition of activities carried out at  host organisation where the student applicant has family relations or bonds of affinity till the second grade with the  legal responsible, partner or responsible manager.

In order to apply for recognition you must submit to the Student Administration Office preferably by mail to the address Università di Bologna, Campus di Rimini via Cattaneo, 17- 47921 Rimini, the following documents (available among attachments in the side box):

  1. application form for recognition of extracurricular activities with a € 16,00 duty stamp applied on it;

- The employment relationship with qualification;

- The tasks carried out with an indication of how they were carried out in terms of commitment, responsibility, autonomy of the student;

3. Report of performed extra-curricular activity, to be drawn up in plain paper with signatures of the student and company/entity

In case of positive evaluation, one credit/CFU is recognised for every 25 hours of extra-university activity.

The request for recognition is evaluated by the Internship Board, in accordance with the Board of the Degree Programme.

The outcome of the evaluation and the updating of the career is communicated by the Student Administration Office within 60 days from the submission of the request.

if the outcome of the request is positive, the internship is registered directly in the student's career, without having to meet the student for registration.
