Final examination: modalities

To graduate, you have to sit a final examination designed to verify that you have reached the education objectives set by the Degree Programme.

Extension of the exam session and final examination a.y. 2019/20

Due to the Covid-19 emergency, the exam session and final examination deadline for the a.y. 2019/20 has been extended to 15/06/2021 (RD of 5 March 2021, Rep No. 303, Prot No. 51924).

Please, check in Extension of the exam session and final examination a.y. 2019/20 if you are eligible for extension.

If you are eligible for extension, from 31 March you must go on Studenti Online and select the extraordinary session. The dates of the session for all degree programmes are the following:

  • Graduation application deadline: 12 April (late enrolment to the session not permitted)
  • Admission requirements deadline: 22 April
  • Dissertation upload deadline: 10 May
  • Deadline for supervisor’s approval of the paper: 17 May
  • The graduation session (if scheduled) will be held from 24 to 28 May

Please note that if you have paid the fees for the 2020/2021 a.y., you are entitled to a refund, which will be arranged after graduation.

General information about the final examination

The final examination consists in writing a dissertation on a subject pertinent to your studies, elaborated in an original way, under the guidance of a supervisor. The dissertation will be discussed publicly during a specific final examination session in front of a Board.

Graduation application

Graduation applications need to be presented on Studenti Online and require the payment of €32.00 in stamp duty.

Applications submitted after the ordinary deadline but within the final cut-off date ("Late graduation application") must be submitted with a €100.00 late fee.

The graduation application is valid for just one graduation session. If you graduate in a later session, you will have to re-submit your graduation application and pay only the duty stamp.

Admission Requirements

In order to graduate, you must have:

  • sat all the exams in your study plan and had them recorded;
  • paid all tuition fees;
  • uploaded the dissertation in pdf format on Studenti Online. The dissertation can be uploaded multiple times, until the requirements deadline expires. When uploading the dissertation, the system will ask you to enter some key words and a brief abstract;
  • compiled the Alma Laurea questionnaire on Studenti Online.

The Student Administration Office will verify all requirements and will contact you if there are any issues, to allow you to regularise your position before the final examination.

The graduation application is valid for just one graduation session. If you graduate in a later session, you will have to re-submit your graduation application and pay only the duty stamp.

Graduation sessions and deadlines

Every academic year foresees a graduation session with different graduation periods ("appelli"), which take place generally in July, November and in March of the subsequent year. For every graduation period, there are specific deadlines to be respected for the presentation of the graduation application, the requirement fulfillment and for the dates of the defense of the final dissertation.
