Finishing the thesis and graduating - Deadlines, Schedule and Procedures

This schedule provides an overview of when to finish what part of the graduation process:

MILESTONE 1

1. Submit the online application for the final dissertation on www.studenti.unibo.it within the deadline approved for each degree programme.
2. Pay the graduation and degree certificate fees € 132,00. The payment form is available on "studenti on-line" under FEE SITUATION. Payment can be made at Unicredit Branches, showing copy of payment code or with credit card.

WARNING

The application for the final dissertation is valid for one session only, not for subsequent ones. Therefore, should the candidate not graduate in the scheduled session, he/she is required to renew the application and pay the entrance fee, including the duty stamp, within the established deadlines for the new session. However, the payment of the fee for the parchment remains valid (subject to any adjustment in the event of increase in the amount).

Should you need to  postpone your graduation enrollment from one session to the next one you have to:

• inform immediately the registrar office writing an email from your @studio.unibo.it account;
• enroll to the following graduation session in due time
• pay only the stamp (marca da bollo): you are not required to pay the graduation fee again.

The Schedule of the final examination will be published after the approval by the Board of esach Second Cicle Degree Course. Any date is not considered official until final publication of the summons, thus it could change anytime.

MILESTONE 2

(with delay) Submit the online application for the final dissertation on www.studenti.unibo.it and pay the graduation and degree certificate fees

Upload the final thesis online (pdf format max 30MB), abstract, language, keywords and reference data included on antiplagiarism program TURNITIN (see instruction in pdf file)

The student is required to fill in the application form online > "Graduation":

1. Teaching activities: specify the topic according to the content of the thesis/dissertation;
2. Title of the final thesis/dissertation. Important: the title in the form must be the same as the one in the file uploaded online;
3. Abstract: short abstract of the content (max 6000 words);
4. Keywords: list of words that identify the main topic;
5. Language: language used to write the thesis/dissertation;
6. File: "browse" to select and upload the final thesis/dissertation in .pdf format

Content and title of the thesis must be previously agreed with the supervisor. The supervisor will then validate the uploaded thesis (both title and content). Please note that the title must be the same as in the Online Application. This deadline is mandatory: delayed uploads will not be accepted and will deny the graduation for the applied graduation session.

MILESTONE 3

Within this date, graduating students must have fulfilled the following requirements:

• Payment of all tuition fees
• All exams must be completed. Please check on AlmaEsami that your exams have been registered
• On line approval of title and content of the thesis by the supervisor 
• Submission of the receipt of the completed Almalaurea
•  questionnaire online or request for exclusion from AlmaLaurea graduates database (by sending an email to the Registrar office)

MILESTONE 4

Please notice that the GPA for the final test will be available (on request) no earlier than the week before graduation session. You can send your request:

• by e-mail using institutional email address name.surname@studio.unibo.it  with student number and a valid identity document attached to: ems.rn.studenti@unibo.it
• by fax, signed and dated, indicating the student number and details of the applicant, enclosing a copy of an identity document, to 051 20 86281 
• in person with student ID at the front office.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

Graduating students within the third session of each Academic Year

Students who presume to graduate within the 3rd session (i.e. by the end of March) are not required to pay tuition fees for the following academic year. Those who make the payment, despite graduating within the third session of the academic year, will be reimbursed after graduation. Duty stamp and regional tax will not be reimbursed (for the repayment of the regional tax is necessary to contact ER–GO, the Regional Agency for the Higher Education Rights). The enrollment for the next A.Y. will be canceled, having no reason to exist.

As for those who, in the presumption of graduating by March, do not pay expected fees and, for any reason, fail to finish their studies, must pay the full annual tuition fee for the next A.Y. It is possible to avoid paying interests for late payment of each prorate, provided that students:

1. have applied for admission to the final examination for the third session;
2. have passed all exams required in their study program, by the established deadline stated for the delivery of the final draft to the SRegistrar Office for the same session.

In this case, the student will be able to pay the annual tuition fee for overdue prorate, by 31st March, without overdue payments.

Should condition 1 but not 2 occur, the student shall pay the annual tuition fee, regarding overdue rate, still by March 31, but paying compensation for the delay an amount of EUR 120.00.
Third rate shall be paid no later than the deadline.
