Origami is the art of folding paper, but can you make a table out of folded paper? Although with paper designers are limited, combing the benefits of origami with the right properties of the folded material opens up a vast field of opportunities. This talk presents a folded table from wood and jewelry from metal. Anything can be folded!
BIO
Silver, leather, iron, brass, aluminium, steel, wood, tissue, glass, ceramic, all materials that the artist and designer Ilan Garibi manipulates and folds to make products, such as lamps, vases, tables, jewelry and installations. His origami-inspired works have been exibited all over the world. Ilan teaches Origami for (Industrial) Designers in HIT, Holon. He is the founder and CEO of Origamisrael, the major group of origami artists in Israel. He was the Guest of Honor at the Polish, Italian, French and Mexican Origami Convention and other origami related events during the last decade. He writes for the magazine of the US origami association "The Fold". He also published several books about origami techniques and he spoke at "TEDx Palo Alto salon" in 2019.
