Tech Forward is an Advanced Training Course aimed at Master's degree students who wish to identify the potential application areas of innovative technologies developed within the Universities of Bologna, Ferrara, Modena and Reggio Emilia and Parma.

Master’s students of all courses from the partner universities will work in multi-campus teams on a specific technology to test and design possible new market applications.

TECH FORWARD, starting in February 2026, is a 16-week programme in which five multidisciplinary student teams investigate a cutting-edge technology from partner universities to identify its potential and develop new possible application solutions, according to the Sustainable Development Goals, thanks to the adoption of a human-centred approach.

The programme includes inspirational meetings and interaction with IdeaSquare, CERN's Open Innovation laboratory, and with the team of researchers who developed the technology that is the subject of the challenge.

The programme requires a part-time commitment, is open to Master’s students of any subject area from the University of Bologna, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the University of Ferrara and the University of Parma, and provides scholarships to cover mobility costs.
