In the firstyear of the Building-Architecture Degree Programme, students will gain a solidfoundation in the disciplines of mathematics, physics, history andrepresentation. More specifically, with regard to mathematics and physics, students will gain an understanding of scientific and experimental methods andacquire the knowledge necessary to resolve technical problems relating to theconcept and design of buildings and real estate. With regard to the history ofarchitecture, students will gain a historical understanding of architecturalworks and the ability to critically evaluate them in relation to their contextand the techniques employed. As regards the methods used to visually representarchitecture and living space, students will learn about the different aspectsof the discipline as a tool of knowledge, elaboration and communication of thedesign concept. This learning path will be consolidated in the second yearthrough more in-depth study of the mathematics, physics, history andrepresentation subject disciplines. Students will also learn about the toolsand methods employed in the realization of the architectural project as afusion of form, function and construction, the typological, morphological andlinguistic features of the architectural structure, and the recovery andrestoration of buildings. In the final year, the programme covers the technicaland scientific methods and techniques used in the design of the structural andsystemic components of simple constructions, touching also on matters relatedto territorial governance, and is aimed at ensuring an integrated approach tothe different aspects of the space to be studied and transformed.
Throughoutthe degree programme, students will undertake applied activities in the form ofmultidisciplinary workshops and exercises, indispensable not only in order toverify the knowledge acquired, but also in order to promote, as in mostEuropean countries, an integrated education, open to dialogue with specialistsin the various technological and scientific sectors involved in theconstruction or re-qualification of buildings and simple real estate.
Admission tothe degree programme in Building Engineering -Architecture requires possessionof a secondary school diploma awarded after five years of study or a foreignqualification recognised as suitable (level 4 EQF).
Additionally, knowledge and competence in the following areas are required:
The methodsfor verifying the knowledge required for admission are defined in the degreeprogramme teaching regulations.
If theresults of the assessment are not positive, additional learning requirementswill be specified. Completionof the learning requirements is the subject of a separate test. The relevanttesting method is also set out in the degree programme teaching regulations.
