The specific learning outcome of the Automation Engineering programme is totrain professionals with a solid basic preparation who are able to performtechnical management and design roles in companies where it is necessary tohave a knowledge of sizing and creating architectures of medium/highcomplexity, automated and robotic systems, and automation processes andinstallations that integrate computer components and devices for measuring, transmission and implementation. It follows then that the automation engineer,as opposed to others from the class of information engineering, must possessgood interdisciplinary knowledge in the sectors of automation, mechanics, computers, electronics and electrical engineering. Graduates therefore firstacquire a solid knowledge of the methodological and operational aspects of thebasic sciences and engineering, favouring specific aspects in the automationfield but without omitting the general aspects; they are then guided through aprocess of learning and in-depth study of the fundamental methods and tools forthe project of automation components, systems and processes in the field andwith an interdisciplinary approach. Their preparation is rounded out andcompleted with significant laboratory experience, elements of contemporarycorporate culture and an adequate knowledge of a foreign language. The graduatein Automation Engineering possesses knowledge and understanding at apost-secondary level in the fields of automation, mechanics, computers, electronics and electrical engineering, and attains a level defined by the useof advanced textbooks, which also includes the knowledge of cutting-edgesubjects such as those regarding the use and design of automated high-dynamicmachinery, robotics, the automotive sector and control systems andimplementation systems based on modern, innovative technologies.
