The degree programme in Economics and Finance aims to provide students with a solid foundation in the dynamics of modern economic and financial systems, in line with the highest European and international standards. Graduates from the programme will be able to apply specific analysis tools to economic and legal problems inherent in businesses, markets and public organisations.
The study programme is therefore oriented to developing an excellent command of economic, legal, business and mathematical-statistical tools to:
i) analyse economic and institutional mechanisms of markets and forecast micro- and macro–economic movements;
ii) analyse investment decisions, portfolio composition and the financial choices of businesses and individuals in conditions of uncertainty and incomplete information;
iii) apply economic methods to problems of public economic law and private contract and business law. For this purpose, the study programme is structured to:
- provide firstly a solid basic grounding in political economics (microeconomics, macroeconomics, industrial economics, public economics) and law (private, public and commercial);
- provide the necessary analytical tools in mathematical and statistical fields;
- apply the aforementioned knowledge to study the dynamics of financial markets, market regulation and law.
Finally, the learning activities aim to develop problem-solving and effective oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to handle new situations and
organise work schedules to meet deadlines, while contact with the international research world will help to stimulate open-mindedness and intellectual curiosity.
