This degree programme is particularly aimed at providing tools for interpreting economic phenomena.This means familiarity with state-of-the-art theories, quantitative analysistechniques and institutional regulations. To this end the programme will offera broad curriculum covering a diversified, relevant core of economic disciplinesand the fundamental methodological aspects of law, economic history andpolitical science.
Economic disciplinesare the core disciplines and will play a major role in providing students withthe theoretical and analytical tools to understand the functioning of markets,businesses and financial institutions, as well as the role of economic policyand the way it affects the economic systems and the choices made by economicagents.
A large part of theCourse will be devoted to becoming acquainted with the methodological toolsneeded for the quantitative analysis of economic phenomena, with an emphasisnot only on measurement but also on the economic forecast techniques in supportof the decisions made by businesses and financial operators.
Students will alsohave elective options enabling them to deepen their expertise in law andpolitical science as well as in specific topics of international, monetary,environmental and labour economics.
Access requirements for the Programme
In order to be eligible,applicants must have a secondary school five-year diploma or similarqualification attained abroad and deemed suitable; ora four-year secondary school diploma and diploma for the relative supplementaryyear, or, where no longer active, admitted students will be assigned additionallearning requirements. Four years diplomas can beaccepted if complemented by certificated attendance of additional one-year highschool courses or evidence of work and professional experience.
The admission to theProgramme in Economics, Markets and Institutions requires:
- a good Italian proficiency.
- a good knowledge of the fundamental notions of mathematics.
- basic cultural tools and logical reasoning and thinking.
The degree programme restricts the number of studentsaccording to the resources available. The number of students who may enrol andthe process of selection will be published every year by a special Call for applications.
Tobe admitted to this degree programme all students have to sit a knowledge testforming part of the restricted-access admission selection. The form this test takeswill be suggested by the Degree Programme Board, approved by the Board of theSchool of Economics, Management and Statistics, and published on the UniversityPortal.
A minimum grade stated in the enrolment Call forms thepass-mark for this knowledge test.
Additional learning requirements (OFA) and how to meetthem
Ifyou fail the knowledge test, you will be set a learning requirement consistingin attending a catch-up course in mathematics or other subjects that may beset. When you pass the maths exam by the deadline set by the academicauthorities, the additional learning requirement will be deemed to have ended.
Failureto make the OFA grade by that deadline may enrol next academic year to repeatthe first year, again subject to the OFA.
