The main objective of this degree programme is to give graduates scientific knowledge in the various fieldsof human wellness, with particular reference to the technical, preventive,managerial and educational areas.
In the technical area, students obtain fundamental knowledge of the theories and teaching methods for thevarious sporting disciplines, as practised essentially for enjoyment and atamateur level. In the preventive area, students learn how to maintain optimalphysical efficiency throughout life, as applied to normal individuals who needto prevent the diseases associated with sedentary living by adopting an activeand healthy lifestyle. In the managerial area, students learn aboutthe legal-administrative principles that govern the world of wellness inthe sporting, recreation, education, prevention and industrial contexts. Inthe educational area, students obtain knowledge aboutteaching expressive-communicative movements, developing the abilities, skillsand coordination of children as they grow.
These objectives areachieved via lectures, mostly led by teachers, and inter-disciplinary seminarsthat stimulate the abilities of students to connect the content of the variousdisciplines, both longitudinally and transversally; via the individual study ofpost-secondary textbooks and other learning materials supplied by teachers orfound independently; via technical-practical demonstrations in laboratories orin the field, and individual practice intended to obtain practical skills in theareas studied; via internships at preventive-adaptive sporting structures,sports teams and clubs and companies linked with the world of sport sciences;and, lastly, via the preparation of an original, written or multimedia reportthat demonstrates the acquired abilities of the student to gatherindependently information relevant to the field of study, process itindependently in multi-disciplinary terms and communicate it clearly insummarised form.
Admission to the degree programme is subject to the possession of afive-year secondary school diploma or equivalent suitable qualificationobtained abroad, or a four-year secondary school diploma and diploma for therelative supplementary year, or, where no longer active, admitted students willbe assigned additional learning requirements.
Candidates must also demonstrate logical skills and basic knowledge andcompetences in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. The degreeprogramme has restricted access, according to the available resources. Thenumber of places and selection methods are published annually in the relativecall for applications.
Admission to the degree programme with restricted access is subject to demonstrationof the required knowledge and skills, by passing the entrance exam with theminimum score indicated in the call for admission. Candidates who do notachieve the minimum score set annually by the School Board and indicated in thedegree programme regulation will be assigned additional learning requirements,to be completed during the first year of the programme. The additional learningrequirements are based on tutored self-learning activities. The additionallearning requirements will be deemed to be completed at the end of the guidedstudy activities. The additional learning requirements will be deemed to becompleted on passing the course unit exam in Applied Biology within the firstyear of the programme. Students not completing the requirements by the date setby the Academic Bodies and published on the University portal will be requiredto re-enrol to the first year of the programme as repeating students.
All students interested in enrolment, including those transferring from anotherdegree programme at the University of Bologna or transferring from anotheruniversity, whatever the programme and whatever the year of enrolment, who maybe admitted following recognition of previous studies, must participate in theselection procedure in the methods laid down in the call for admission.
