The 1st cycle Degree Programme in Quality Control of Health Products produces graduates able to integrate chemical, biological and technological knowledge in order to work as qualified quality control technicians in the field of medicinal cosmetic and dietary products, protecting consumer health and the environment. This professional figure meets the specific demands of the business world and private and public control bodies.
In fact, in order to protect the health of the population, current national and European legislation requires quality control sin all production and distribution phases of products for human consumption which are subject to authorisations, including those of the Ministry of Health, for issue on to the market. Therefore Quality Control of Health Products graduates must possess solid practical training in order to:
1 Monitor the various production phases of medicines, cosmetics and dietary products which are subject to specific authorisations.
2 Organise specific laboratory activities which apply the chemical, technological, biological, microbiological and toxicological methods laid down in current national and EC (and generally international) legislation;
3 Draft analysis protocols for raw materials and contaminants of cosmetics, in compliance with the certification standards of quality systems;
4 Carry out chemical, biological and technological analyses in compliance with certification and quality standards, for the purpose of product registration and subsequent post-sales controls.
5 Work professionally in public or private facilities, as employees or on a freelance basis.
Admission requirements for the degree programme
Admission to the 1st cycle degree programme in Quality Control of Health Products is subject to the possession of a five-year secondary school diploma or equivalent suitable qualification obtained abroad,or a four-year secondary school diploma and diploma for the relative supplementary year, or, where no longer running, will be assigned additional learning requirements.
Admission to the study programme is subject to the possession of basic knowledge of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
The degree programme has restricted access, according to the available resources. The number of places and selection methods are published annually in the relative call for applications.
Admission to the degree programme with restricted access is subject to demonstration of the required knowledge and skills, bypassing the entrance exam with the minimum score indicated in the call for applications. Candidates not obtaining at least the required score will be individually assigned Additional Learning Requirements (OFA).
The additional learning requirements shall be deemed to have been completed by passing a specific exam, held on the days indicated in the call for applications, or when the students pass the exam in Human Anatomy.
This exam must be passed by the date set by the Academic Bodies and published on the University portal. Students not meeting the additional learning requirements will be obliged to enrol in the first year of the programme as repeating students.
If the number of applications received in the manner indicated in the call for applications, or the number of candidates present at the entrance exam, is equal to or less than the number of available places, applicants in the following conditions will be exempted from the entrance exam:
- students opting from degree programmes in class 24-Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies;
- students opting from the degree programme in Quality Control of Health Products run under the previous degree system;
- students with a degree in one of the following classes:

- students with a degree from the previous degree system under D. M. 509/99 in: Biotechnologies, Biological Sciences, Pharmacy,
Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Medicine and Surgery;
- students transferring from degree programmes in one of the following classes:
