The Degree Programme provides multidisciplinary knowledge and competencies focusing mainly on the economic, managerial, market and governance aspects required for those working in the agrifood business, also with a view to the sustainability of the system. This meets the needs of all companies and bodies working in the AgriFood business, where graduates are able to work both with direct responsibility and dialoguing with specialised figures from other fields.
The programme offers the possibility to acquire and apply the typical technical knowledge of the primary sector, the referred socio-economic context, in the various Food Chains and different contexts of a globalised market. It provides the necessary competencies for investigating and analysing the political and economic dynamics supporting local, national and international markets in the primary sector and in agribusiness, also with a circular economy approach. It provides the skills required to manage various kinds of businesses (from farms to restaurants) and define planning strategies consistent with their mission and the dynamics of consumer behaviour.This knowledge will allow students to:
• know and apply advanced production techniques to the main agricultural and agro-industrial activities;
• know and use diagnostics tools for the main adversities affecting agricultural raw materials and processed food products;
• know the main tools for analysing and enhancing the quality of agro-industrial productions;
• apply disciplinary investigation methods and be able to participate in research and experimentation, using the knowledge acquired to solve the many normative, organisational, managerial and commercial problems facing agricultural and agro-industrial businesses;
• interpret the dynamics of the agro-industrial products market both nationally and internationally, and examine the structure and organisation of different agro-industrial supply chains;
• understand and apply national and European management strategies, adopting a critical approach oriented to the circular economy;
• use a marketing approach, respecting the specific features of the agri-food sector;
• provide professional consulting and technical assistance in the agricultural and agro-industrial field, particularly in the fields of management, marketing and quality enhancement.
During the second year, students will undertake a curricular internship at a business or institution in the sector, useful for exploring public and private operations and the world of research.
In both the second and third year, a range of elective course units and activities are available, allowing students to tailor the programme to their own needs.
