The Second Edition of the Cinema & Architecture Festival is starting, curated by the Building Engineering-Architecture Study Course in collaboration with the Cineteca di Bologna.
The review, which has “Architecture, Cities, Lives” as its central theme, focuses on the architecture and the city that hide in plain sight in the narration through images of classical and contemporary cinematography. Whether documented or designed, they support epic, everyday or fantastical stories; placing itself at the same time as a receptacle and apparatus that allows narrative interactions. Architecture and city are therefore an active background, which extends and completes characters and communities, feeding on their stories, interactions and personalities.
Cinematographic art and architecture intertwine in a multidisciplinary conversation, with five screenings as protagonists which, starting from Friday 3 March 2023, will be introduced by the teachers of the Building Engineering-Architecture study course
"It is with great pleasure and sense of responsibility that I take up the baton of this initiative" - says Prof. Alessio Erioli, Curator of the Exhibition and lecturer of the Study Course - "I have always been of the opinion that learning implies an inseparable component emotional. In this sense, cinema is the ideal dimension to create, through an emotional and aesthetic experience, a bond through which ideas, concepts, provocations travel that allow us to appreciate the relationships that link architecture and engineering to other disciplines and, through narration , reveal their experience. I believe that this exhibition is a good opportunity for students to appreciate this network of relationships, and I hope it will stimulate creativity and critical reflection in them, as well as entertain and excite.”
